Apart from the mortgage repayments, and depending whether or not you are both working, which will affect how much energy you use, you should allow £1 per day for electric, same for gas if you have central heating.
    Water allow 40p per day
Council tax depends on location, but expect about £100+ per month
Dont forget the buildings and contents insurance, and do not be forced into having the mortgage lenders policy, there are cheaper around. Cost, dependent on house rebuild cost and contents on what you have, but most do a standard amount of about £35,000, and will cost around £50 per month for both

Just to point out, if IRs go up to 12%, you will be paying £1,500 a month on the mortgage alone!

It doesn't work that if you already have the mortgage of course. You still have to pay for the ammount you initially took out.

The only way to escape that is to get a fixed rate but the banks are canny about not offering them when they can see the rates are climbing.

so for the time being budgeting 1600 quid is probably a good start as the mortages were coming in at 700 - 900 so i took the worst case

i dunno... we spend between £50 and £100 a week on food type stuff depending on how much booze/cleaning products go into the shop (those bits cost the most) so £450 is a good base as it allows to eat nicely lol

I make it on about £50 a month

I'm either very efficient or going to get skinny.
