    whatever happened to Simon Hargreaves

Those of you wondering who i am on about, he was the editor of REVS back in the good old days 1999-2000-2001. We arent very busy at work at the moment and ive dug out most of 2000's revs from the pile by the lockers. Some cracking reviews and features, like every month they did a group test, like 16 valvers under 1500 quid (has gte 16v in it) coupes for under 5k etc etc, then there was the dogs tour'd series, buying sh itters and doing them up to race, power run and quater mile. Ive been head down all week, doing about 1 issue per day, and its taking me a good 8 hours inbetween work to read a whole feature its fantastic.

anyway the point is, revs hasnt been the same the last few years, Si was a good writer, witty and informative, i just wondered what happened to him. He was the one they always called podgy, had shaven fuzz buzz haircut.

Maybe our resident freelancer who sometimes dips into MIG will know ?

I knew I had heard the name before!

He used to be the editor of Performance Bikes Magazine aswell. Back in like 98/99. I expect Revs is an EMP publication aswell so that would explain why the move perhaps.

My brothers brother in laws girlfriend (come on.. catch up!) Is the marketing manager/Editor for the Mirror news group. And I think you'll find that said Mr Hargreaves, Whom I consider a top bloke, is/was working for them. Writing bike stuff again. But he may well have moved on.
    I have become comfortably numb....

That's when I used to buy revs and redline. The dogs tour was entertaining. I can't be arsed with the boy racer mags much anymore.
Do you want to install and run "Adobe Flash Player 9"?
    No, now f*** ***.

I remember him being editor of Performance Bikes but never read the Mirror so no idea if he is still on that.

Seem's an odd move from bike mag to "boy racer" mag though, bike magazine's tend to have a bit of disdain for "Kevin's" as they put it!

its very good reading actually. Unfortunately i gave away hundreds of mags to a mate, so my collection doesnt go as far back as the first dogs tourd with the xr4i and the v12 jag and the granada, fond memories though. I gave the lot away bar all the newest ones, and kept any that were remotely mk2 astra related or anything with a valver lump really, for obvious reasons.

I never really used to read Revs that much but got into about 12months back just before they relaunched it and made it a lot bigger. Haven't bought it since they gave a near standard fiesta a 4 page feature and put a shocking Saxo on the front cover.

I only read Redline regularly now (cos there usually a pic of my car in there somewhere) and will buy Total car Audio from now on(nothing to do with my car being on the cover this month you understand)!!

Edit, cos my typing is dreadful
