if you have proof he threatened you in the form of a reliable witness, then you should be able to get him on a disciplinerary?

Should have told him "Lets go mofo" And let him beat the crap outta ya. . .

Then go American style and sue his ass, aswell as get him sacked! Play the part of being 'scared' of him, and intimidated

I asked at work and that is Gross Misconduct , also puts the company in a pickle because they must provide a safe working enviroment.

I had some middle aged ring piece giving it threats against me when I was in the paint shops at Aerospace! He used to bung insults at all the apprentices but I am a bit too mouthy to take crap off some old fart!

I said something like 'I can understand arrogance on people that have some sort of ability, but whats your f*cking excuse' and he started on his threats again, so I just said 'Ok, how about we take a walk outside the gates at dinnertime then?' Never had anymore crap off him from that day fourth, granted we were only remotely civil to one another but...

still his fault, even if you said "i want to make love to your sister with a cheese grater" he's still got no right to threaten you.

it's a heck of a lot of stress and hassle to take things like that to a corporate level. my brothers going through it all in work from someone starting a pushing match with him. They've both been sent off work till it can be cleared up with hearings and witness's having to give statements and the union getting involved. Avoid it atall costs if u can.

It's this thing that pisses me off, big time.

Threatening behaviour is a criminal offence, and if there's one reliable witness you should make sure he is sacked. If the company won't do anything then

    a) Go to the Police
    b) Resign on the grounds that the company refuses to keep you safe
    c) Take the company to an industrial tribunal for constructive dismissal.

I'm a Business Unit manager in a Factory and have had employees getting all HARD with me. I reduce my voice to a whisper and tell them that I don't care how big and tough they are, if they can't speak to me or the other staff in a civil way I will personally take them over to see the HR manager to collect their Cards.

They usually back down straight away and I tell them that I'm prepared to discuss the problem and any solutions they might like to propose but I won't have anyone insulting or threatening anyone else no matter what. I've had a couple of Guys come back to me after an hour or so and apologise.

The best way for you to continue is to go direct to your boss and ask them to document in your employment file the conversation. Ask them for a copy of the record. Any decent manager will ensure that it stops.

In my day, somebody had to actually die before disciplinary action was taken.
