    What makes us do it?

I dont want an arguement over this but after what ive seen tonite its makin me wonder.

What is it that makes us want more and more speed from our cars?
Why do we (and im no exception) put ourselves at risk from a higher accident rate when we hoof it more instead of keeping things as they were designed to be when they left the factory (I mean engine / powerwise). Just what is it thats so addictive about speed?

I know we all slow down for a short time after seeing something like that but soon enough we are back up to our old tricks.

Sorry to sound like an old git but I am curious.

Drive safely people, as Chris said on a different thread I would hate to hear of one of us becoming one of those fatality statistics.

People, me included, race for the buzz.

The buzz of the speed, thrill of winning, whatever. It;'s the endorphines released by your brain that make you feel soooo good when you get the buzz.

We are all drug addicts. And to get our "fix" we have to do something to get the Adrenalin etc released. Driving fast produces this. And in different amounts.
Going through your fave set of corners quickly can heighten your adrenalin output and give you that feeling.
The same as having a near miss really gets the heart racing.

    We are adrenalin junkies.

Sad fact of life. And death.

I have lost friends to it and understand what the risks are when doing silly things. And as your earlier thread proves, theres a time and a place for everything.
Unfortunately, some people don't see things the same way.
    I have become comfortably numb....

lmao agreed, no chance of that mate.lmao

In all seriousness though it has made me think about my own driving.

Having said that im not THAT bad around town and usually save it for more open roads and even if the motorway is busy I wont push it.
