    FAO Modelmakers/Engineers etc

If you get it quick (before the 4th September), Maplins are selling Polymorph for £11.99 for a 500g tub.

I bought some of this at the weekend and me and the missus had a couple of fun hours making silly shaped things lmao

Its cool stuff - heat it up to 65 degrees in hot water and it becomes like putty (similar to a hot melt glue stick when it just starts to soften) but when it cools down, it "cures" to a really tough polymer. We made a spring with it and its got a reasonable amount of elasticity for stuff like that but it really (and I mean really) tough stuff. If you roll it out to 5mm thickness you'd be hard pressed to break it by hand.

Funky stuff really and the best bit is that it is reuseable, just heat it up again and you can rework it (its a proper thermoplastic).

www.maplin.co.uk and search for polymorph (N15AT)

500g is adequate for making quite a few things (imagine half a kilo of plastic lmao)

Its good for quick prototyping or even making temporary brackets and stuff.

lmao - exactly what I thought but every time I've needed to mount something or make a bracket I could have used this stuff.

    Re: FAO Modelmakers/Engineers etc

lol - it stay pliable until it half cooled then it stiffens up a lot.

I tried to remelt it in some water I was washing pans in - it was too hot to put my hands in but the polymorph was still pretty stiff which makes me think that it will handle around 50 degrees (maybe more) before softening up again. Our 6 year old kiddie was quite happy to play about with it when it was still hot enough to mould.
