Morning Chris, welcome to Mig. You're probably better off asking in the technical sections ace... http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/engines-transmission/ as more likely to find out the info you need. I wouldn't have a clue personally but I think Tom Williams may have re-mapped his CDTi and I believe it can be done without effecting reliability.

Mine was the Silver MK5 888 @ the RR that got 195bhp, it started life as a 150cdti with a re-map by 888 and the bits added, it should now be 200bhp or there abouts now has simota induction and full magnex exhaust system with downpipe and relability has not been an issue. I still love it 2 years later and it still smokes just as much lmao

DAP (Dave) in Huddersfiled is pretty good as he started out @ 888 and now runs his own business so for re-map's(through the sports button aswell ), suspension etc he's your man.

Your only up the road from me so if you wanna take mine for a spin sometime let me know

I was there that day too.

The 1.9 engine is actually a Fiat engine, and so far I've yet to hear any complaints about it. They seem to be good engines.

    that it is

the only common fault with the 1.9cdti's are they eat EGR valves for breakfast lmao and there is a back order on them until Vauxhall can release the updated model.

Re: moving from SEAT to Vauxhall

240lb ft but it comes in at 2400rpm which is pretty low for a petrol turbo itll keep up with a astra vxr as its a bit lighter probably loose out top end on one though!i have to admit im not overly excited about the asta as std but im sure with a bit more umph itll sway me! oh and its a five door with the leather trim!!should be a bit of a sleeper!
the one thing about moving from VAG to VX is there both pretty good for after market stuff but the and mods arent really cheap for the vw/audi engine etc so hopefully itll be a pleasant suprise when buying upgrades alhtough ive not looked yet!!!is there anywhere reasonably close to warrington for VX parts as awesome GTi was ideal for me with the leon??
