| own business quest Hi all, i'm putting a feeler out just to get an idea how many people maybe interested in a vauxhall conversions
specalist in the north west. But will do other makes and models. I'm a time served mechanic neally 14yrs in the
job, who is looking at going on my own. I will not do half a job, it will be all or nothing. so that the car issafe
to be on the road. not like some of the conversions i've seen out there. i.e no strenghtning, wrong brake set up,
suspension ect. will do all engine ranges, i will do what you want with in reason and advise on what you will
need.try and do you the best price possible. I do realise there is many people out there who can do it them selfs
but some don't have the time, and theres others that would love to have it done but can't do it them selfs.please
post and give me an idea how many would be interested as it is in the planning for the very close future. cheers
martin p.s at present i'm working for ford. |

| Depends how much you would charge and how quick you can do it. For example Courtnay do C20LET Nova conversions for around £3.5k (i think) so you would need to be quite a bit cheaper than someone like that for anyone to use your services i reckon.
But sounds like a good idea if you can work it out right |

| I think its a good idea, as long as you can garauntee your wotk and as mentioned come in under the likes of courtney....It is however funny you mention this because I have a mk3 Astra Estate 1.7td, in need of a red top conversion. - Would you be providing the engines and gearboxes?
- If the customer already has the parts, just need fitting, would there be a discounted rate?
- Where would you be looking at being based?

How long would/could you guarantee you work for?
Would be a good idea for people than want to buy a nice Nova or whatever and give it a bit more go, but lack space/tools/skill/enthusiasm.

| That Courtenay price is plus engine & not getting yours back IIRC.
Good idea but dont expect to be run off your feet. Its not like people need engine conversions like they need groceries on a weekly basis...

| This is the same thing as im doing but you will find the engine conversions alone will not make your money to run the business. Sit down and plan how much it will cost you just to 'run' the business, then factor in how much for cash flow, tooling replacement, outside help..ect, then when all that is sorted...add a wage you think you can live on (don't go daft, keep it to what you are at the moment). Remember you will need insurances, rates, tax, disposal costs..ect.
If it helps do what im doing at the moment...get a small unit you can work from, and start doing basic servicing. you will find that the money will help you set-up and fund you to do part service and then engine swap later down the line. |

| Hi mate, there isnt much money in doing conversions, all you will be doing is making a wage, if you are doing them from a workshop with overheads e.t.c. then there isnt much money in doing them. If you need any parts your welcome to give us a call or pop over for a brew if you a get a spare hour some time.
