help.. 3.0 vectra with F28 speed.. problems!

    Hiya guys....

Sorry not been on for a while..... had a few problems! My beloved 2.6 GSI went up in flames on the drive a while back.... have avoided shows and that since! Anyway, got a new car yesterday, but i have a few problems!

Ive bought the above mentioned car yesterday, its had an Omega engine conversion with courtenay wilder cams and the full CS15 kit.

Its also had a F28 box installed.... the car goes like stink, however! Last night, after only 200 miles since collecting it, its blown a drive shaft!

Apparently it should have had a calibra turbo, or other 2 piece drive shaft in there. (it had just a standard 2.0 one in there?).. Just after some advise really though. As im not real engine techy, i bought this car in the hope for reliable power.... it appears not the case!

Was wondering if any of you could shead any light? i.e is an F28 and a 3.0 V6 a reliable conbination? or would the car be more reliable with a 5 speed back in it?

Just a little concerned... as may need to return the car now if its going to be dubious??

    Cheers,

    Mike

seeing as it has no txb in the gsi, a calibra turbo shaft wont fit as its too short

cut a cavalier gsi or calibra Xe shaft should do which is a 2 section shaft with a bearing and support for the inner peice of the shaft

Vectra Shafts are 20mm longer than Cavalier ones.

    VVOC message said Passenger shaft.

He just needs another big block Vectra shaft.

I messed up............... was wrong with the info!

Its the driverside longer shaft which has snapped... had a vectra 2.0 litre jobby in there.. it just couldnt take the strain!

Having a specialist build up a spacer etc so he can fit calibra turbo shafts!

    Cheers

As said earlier, you can't use Calibra shafts, thye are too short.

You need Vectra V6 shafts, and a spacer.

Bugger! Ah well, he will soon find out?? He said he'd done it before & all was OK? Said it was the calibra turbo, or some 16v cavalier ones, then he would make spacers??

Wil see what he comes back with........ dont really wanna question him?? V6 ones wont be hard to source anyway??

F25? yeah, sucks as a gearbox though

F23 from a V6 would give better ratios, but Cable shift means swapping all that stuff too.

They might well fit, but the CV joint will be running close to pulling apart.
