Vauxhall Tigra - R reg - Cam Belt Snapped

Hi

I have a vauxhall tigra - R reg and yesterday it died on me.

Green flag came and towed me to a garage.....where i was told cam belt had gone.....and the cost would be in excess of £650. The mechanic said that because i will have been doin over 50 (i was on a dual carriageway at the time) then the valves will need replacing too!

Is this how much it will cost etc....?

PLEASE HELP!.....I know nothing about cars!!!

just for example if i was to do that job and 6 valves are bent to replace everything ur looking around £560 mark thats head gasket, timing belt kit, 6 x valves, all the gaskets and antifreeze thats if it hasent smashed a piston.

right.....so best thing do ya think is to get rid...for spares or repairs then?

I repaired mine for 250 50 for the headset and bolts adnd antifreeze and a new head from the vauxhall breakers up near you hmm whats the name off it ill remember it soon

Pick up a spare head, or another engine - will be cheaper in the long run especially if you don't know much about cars as you say.
