Thumbs down I went to view the worst Vectra in the world yesterday!

Vectra 1.8 Sri, 99T facelift model, good condition, any trial, p/x, 12 months mot £1195, Bradford
    (This is in the 'trader)

Rung them and they said yes, excellent condition, nothing wrong with it, 1ook miles.

Gets there and; 4 bald tyres, when I say bald I mean like what they fit to formula one cars, (bear in mind it's got 12 months test) no coolant/water in reservoir at all, ecotec plastic cover smashed, non-sri front bumper with NO foglights fitted which clearly used to be red, which the guy tried to say was a Gsi bumper!! bonnet used to be red, steering wheel completely worn including horn press worn right through, gearlever worn, mileage 116k not 100k stated which I still didn't believe, scratches all over the car, back bumper jutting out where it should line up under rear light, passenger wing mirror held in with putty, and best of all wouldn't start without jump leads.

So If you've seen a blue 99t reg vectra sri for sale in the 'trader I wouldn't bother if I was you, I felt like asking him for my petrol money back!

I got one last night which i consider a real bargain buts that's a different story...

Don't think I would have drove it either, lol...

Sounds like an ex-taxi / ringer / clocked or something along those lines...

Yeah we were thinking when we got home how the hell do wear the horn press right through to a hole and then we figured it must have been a taxi

Copied from an older post of mine

I spotted a N reg Cav CDX on the autotrader at a dealers about 40 miles from here. Rang them up - yes they still had it, checked with the description - yes it has service history, is rust and rot free and I wouldn't find a better one for the price.

An hours drive later I spotted the car. Initially it looked fantastic but ..........

Alloy wheels were corroded with the center caps peeling
Drivers door had rotted away at the bottom
Engine was still hot but the car hadn't moved (lots of water under the exhaust) - this made me immedately suspicious.
Obvious water leak on the radiator
Lots of scratches on the bodywork that had been touched up.
Rot appearing on the wheel arches and seams.

The car was up for £800 though - spoke to the woman on the forecourt and asked when the cambelt was done - she said she didn't have a clue but it probably wasn't that long ago. I asked to see the service history to which she replied there wasn't any (I pointed out that it said service history on the windscreen of the car as well lmao).

Up until the next point she was as nice as pie to me but as soon as I spotted the hot engine she went all cagey and started becoming unavailable and ringing her boss etc. When I asked her to start it up she did - what a racket !!! Exhaust was blowing and it took nearly a minute for the engine to stop tapping lmao.

When I pointed out the rust and rot she basically told me to get lost - if I wanted a Cavalier of this age without any rust I would need to pay at least another £1000 lmao - I then pointed her to my rot and virtually rust free L reg Cavalier with less miles on and asked if she wanted to buy that for £1000 with a full service history etc

Needless to say I got the finger and she stormed off.
