| A little clarification. Years ago when MIG started the regions I set out the MIG regions into managable parts of the UK so that members could meet on a monthly basis.
As we have been growing these regions have stayed the same and the monthly meets have been working well up to a point.
I was given a suggestion by another coordinator and following thoughts about this it was put into place, whilst at the same time both DaveB and Rik were asking about sorting out the NE or a Yorkshire region.
I looked at the regions map and considering the suggestion from the other coordinators i appointed Dave and Rik as coordinators for the North East MIG region and allowing them to run a NE (South) or a NE (yorkshire) semi region for the purposr of monthly meets aloowing the more local members to meet more easily as there are quite a few in the same locality without having to travel too far to meet others.
the regions as they are indicated on the map are to remain the same, no yorkshire region will be created but dave and rik both know and knew at the time they could run a NE (southor yorkshire) for the yorks people.
Thanks
Tom

| Tom what is classed as "south" north eastern though?
Because North Eastern to us "northern" folk is Newcastle and such area's now the other day when someone from newcastle area posted they were from the north eastern area - they got told by the "borders" coordinator that they were not north eastern - they were borders!
It's causing some confusion and the north eastern area isn't as "lively" as I would have though it would be - maybe the reason is people from "yorkshire" do not see themselves as being "north eastern" and don't bother to read the districts under each section! |

| Leni, i am one of the border coordinators and the only one that post's so you must mean me,i took the borders mig region/ northeast of england in a map point of view last year straight away i set about trying to pull some folks together for a mig meet my first thing i asked was who was in our region and the replies i got ZERO i then approached people that i knew were in the region and i got a lot of oh yes we will be there at the meet etc ( you know who you are). How many turned up none there were a couple of lads from newcastle and gateshead at the first....Then we set the next meet and told everyone we would hold a meet up this end of the woods and the next one down there end of the woods etc etc..How many turned up 2 me and neilD..I then moved house which i did explain on a thread on here and i would not be on for a couple of month in the mean time time the powers that are have decided that there needs to be a split and daveB was named as a coordinator for the north east ( which is yorkshire area ) on a map of GB and i must agreee a agree with tom and co for doing this as if people are not willing to travell then why not have a meet closer to them...
O a different note me and neil are travelling to scotland for there meet on the 22nd 200mile for me there and 200 back so i think i have proved i am willing to travell rob the scotish coordinator has said he will travell down to our meet as well so there are some peeps who will travell for the club and some who wont a little dig there ( again you know who you are )...
But leni if you are in my area i am always here and will ehlp anyway i can anytime

| But you can see the size of the Yorkshire regions surely they are substansial enough to warrant their own region? Leni is right, North Eastern doesn't signify Yorkshire to me. |

looking at the map - I'm actually classes as East Midlands - even though I'm East Riding of Yorkshire so you can see my confusion!
I'm not having a go John but you can see our argument!
As for travelling to meets - I used to organise meets for corsasport and used to regularly do a 500 round mile trip to meets at Blue Water and Mean Street - so I know the deication your on about and the fustration when no-one or hardly anyone turns up! My best meet that I organised had 38 cars there
As I don't own a vauxhall ATM and rely on borrowing the second car of the household (my blokes) I have to fit meets around what he's doing! Turning up in a 600cc Smart car when theirs 2ltr turbo'd astra's there is just laughable |

| north west is chester / liverpool etc, north east is newcastle etc...
i'm bang in the middle in huddersfield, which i think should be in the yorkshire region, seeing as it isnt north east or north west... regardless of the fact that the last north eastern meet was on my doorstep |

| I forgot to add i do need to update the map. Oops my error sorry. I will try and get the updated map online this week.
The reason I gave dave and rik the go ahead on having a local yorkshire meet was so that members in yorkshire could meet without having to travel too far, this is what Dave and Rik told me the people of yorkshire wanted. so i sorted it for these people, now people want something else? |

| From my original post..........
Under North Eastern it says......."North Yorkshire & Central Yorkshire & East Riding of Yorkshire"..............Now don't get me wrong but that pretty much sums up Yorkshire..........!!!!!
Just to add to the confusion, I class myself as a Northerner and a Yorkshireman but I'm not from the North East, I'm certainly not knocking people from those neck of the woods and If I'd known about the meet in Hudds I'd have gone but I'm relatively new to the forum..............
If there was a Yorkshire region with meets in and around Yorkshire I would endeavour to get to them, but to have a meet in Newcastle would cost me a small fortune, 325bhp does have it's effect on fuel consumption afterall...........
I can see Toms point as the rest of the regions are areas rather than counties and it might set a precedent for other regions to want to do the same.............
Yet........At the end of the day..........I'll not be attending meets outside of Yorkshire where 20 or 30 cars turn up, PV show yes, Billing yes...........Newcastle or Gateshead............A resounding ......NO

For one Newcastle is within the MIG borders region so as a NE regional member you would not be required to attend any meet in newcastle or gateshead, the club will not be turning regions into county regions and this is wy dave and rik again have my authorisation to run local meets to them in there part of yorkshire.
I will update the map over the next few days and up load it, i will also upload another file which daveb sent me for your pleasure and to help explain things.
I will try to get the map done this week and get it online so people can see what i am talking about |

I took the "north east" label because it was better than nothing.
I disagreed with you then about the label and i still do. I still maintain the fact its not the correct label for the area it covers. |
