Valve timing.

On this mk3 astra I've got 1.4si(Mpi), it seems as though the Valve timing is out from a cambelt being fitted incorrectly.

Could this have caused damage internally, the car does run, but has no power at all, and seems to lack any power past 3.5K, I will be getting the cam belt changed but some clever twonk has disgarded the cam belt cover, is this needed to time the car properly or are there marks else where...

Also the Cat is flubbered, I presume this breaking up could also cause there to be a problem with power higher up the rev range.

any help appriecated, Thx

Thankyou. I did think it could be the cat as its rattling like a bag of bones...If I just replace the cat with pipe will it be okay, as in will the exhaust be okay, or will I need to replace the entire back section?.

Will be changing the belt anyway so does anyone know if you need the cover to time it? or is the block marked
