yeap..i think the standard C20XE parts are stronger than C18NE/C20NE ones.. but for strong turboed engine, forgot standard parts, will crash.
the pistons is the first thing that broken in turboed engine. the price of 2 or 3 new set standard pistons, and overbore, pay the set of racing forged pistons. And racing forged pistons if for all life..

well friend..
about the max rpm of standard 16V rods, i think the Oddball, 16Vastra, and others friends that running TBs can tell you. Because i never did a really strong N/A engine for know that. My turboed engines doesn´t over 7.500rpm. And i can guarantee you the 8V rods resists 7.500rpm. Then 16V ones resists it too.
About the standard pistons, the power exaclty is not most important for you know if will resists or not, the correct is do a estimative with medium efetive pressure. Then, max power and max rpm power. But, in general talk, the standard pistons can running about to 250bhp without risk, more than it, you will work in "risk area". I running more than 280bhp easy with standard pistons in overboost situation, few seconds only. If you running much seconds in this situation, off-course will broken.

tnx!!but if get more than 170hp from my specs will bemore than enogh!!!!
N/A engines have low medium efetive pressure, then, don´t care about the pistons, the standard 8V piston can work with this power with gap...
with a bit more wilder cam like 288 the engine would rev higher...so woul xe rods hold 8k rpm???
well, the camshaft is not only propertier of engine that will defines how many rpm will be the max power. It will depends your carb or TB/s, head work, exhaust system(so important).. and in the cam, the duration is not only important fact, need know the lift and lobe center too, for you make a correct estimative. You can make a 288 duration cam, less wild than a 270 cam.
But i think, good N/A engine for street, with standard internal parts, is rev limiter in 8.000rpm. Then, max power around 7.500rpm. And you need take care with 8V head, the rocker arms love crash.

em just asking.....can harder springs be found any other opel?that it would fit to this engine?
well friend, here in Brazil is not so easy find Vauxhall perfomance parts.. and i don´t have harder springs here. Maybe european miggers can help you with that. And i don´t know now too about springs of others engine that can fit in C18NE head.

cheers,
