Can someone out there gen me up on how u fit the serpentine belt that drives the Alt, PAS and aircon pulleys on an X20XEV?

I understand that it needs to pass under the engine mount etc, but I don't get the tensioner. I can move it under pressure but is there any way to 'lock it off' so u can fit the belt?

There's one hell of a spring in that puppy and it's hurting my fingers:mad:

Cheers, Dave.

Fit the belt all the way round except for the PAS pulley.

Then, put you 15mm ring spanner on the tensioner, and pull it back, until you can slip the belt onto the PAS pulley.

Thinking about it...

The Compressor mounting bracket got in the way of the Tensioner nut on the Wife's Astra.

I used a tyre lever to move the tensioner over, and I think it was the Alternator pulley I left off.

Was the PAS pulley on the Cav.

When it's all in there, IIRC you can only see half of the 15mm nut in the middle of the adjuster.

There's room for an open-ender I think, but that's a horribly crowded corner of the engine bay. Hate to see what it's like in an Astra.

Removed the old belt using brute force........

There was me thinking you were on about an Astra!!

Same engine and aircon on the Cav/Astra 2.0 CDX so it won't be any different to what you see.

The V6 is easier, the tensioner is at the back, and with the Airbox out, is quite easy to get a ring spanner on.
