If u wire the ecu warning light up and it flashes at 1 sec intervals it is definately an immobiliser problem.
If u have the matched ecu, transponder and key that you say you have bought then teck2 can definately re-set it. Been there, done it! It was sorted out for 4 cans of stella on a saturday morning and took 10 mins start to finish.
The problem was caused by winding the car over before everything was wired up fully. The immobiliser can be triggered by a missing signal or voltage, they also seem to be set off under low-volt conditions sometimes as in the bloke with the omega.
When we took the car in to vaux we did not supply any codes, the engine was bought without ecu or key, we know nothing of the history of either item.
I got the ecu matched to another transponder and a new key made but andy does not need this done, wire in the warning light and itll save u guessing. If its not the immobiliser u will then be able to flash up the fault codes and it may just tell u whats wrong with it.
Hope this helps.

Paul.

Well Weekenny is coming down to see you tomorrow isnt he?
I may well come along with him and introduce myself.Im not sure if the immobiliser is kicked in yet, never really got a chance to get much checking done today.Ill be spending a day on it next week early on in the week to get fault codes etc.Ill pohne Kenny tomorrow and see what time he is going up at.

sorry to drag this up again, but the guy at Vauxhall hasnt been very helpful at all!
He says you cant reset the ECU,they would be able to extract the fault codes, nothing else.If the immobiliser was set then i would need a new ECU!!!
I was also stuck as AJBek has cut the diagnostic plug off the loom,so i need to know the two colours of the wires that need shorted out so i can put my test lamps between brown/yellow and brown to check the codes.
Anyone know what the colours are?

Are u sure its an immobilizer problem now?
Sorry I cant help with the colour codes but im sure someone else can.
If u connect the light and it does flash at 1 second intervals constantly trailer the car to vauxhall and get it plugged in to the diagnostic, thats what we did anyway.
Your vauxhall bloke does not know his arse from his elbow! Teck 2 has the ability to re-set the immobilizer otherwise every single car that has an immo fault would need a new ecu. Same goes for a car that someone tries to steal and the immo kicks in.

If u have the matching chipped key, transponder unit and ecu in your car it can DEFINATELY be re-set on Teck 2.

Andy, sorry to hear the car is still not starting. If you are going to Vauxhall to get the Tech2 diagnostics done you will need to have a diagnostics plug wired up for them to plug into. I doubt they will want to do anything if it isn't there, as most of the Vx mechanics don't know much about it and won't understand the wiring (I could be wrong, but I doubt it). I would give you the plug off my car, but the airbag system uses the same plug, and I need it to be there in case there are any problems with that in the future. That is the reason I didn't suggest removing it when I was down. Your best bet is to get a diagnostic plug off a scrapped corsa. The wire that is important here is the brown/white wire as it is for engine diagnostics. I am not sure if any other connections have to be made such as earths or lives. Perhaps someone else knows. Where is the car now? if you are struggling I will come down and give you a hand at the weekend, even if it is at paisley.

Yeah mate I know what it is like working mega hours to pay for mods. You are nearly there, if you can get a diagnostic plug and wire it in correctly then Tech2 will tell you exactly what is wrong with the ECU, and should be able to sort it. If you have any more bother I will be happy to come over to Paisley and give you a hand, just say the word.

When i had a corsa gsi (X16XE) i had a new key made at a local locksmiths including the chip in the key,all he needed was the reg number of the car,the vin number and year of manufacture,it took him 15mins and cost £18 per key,
OR
If you wire the diagnostic socket up as it should be vauxhall dealers can disable the immobiliser or recode a new chip.
Vaux quoted me £25 for a new key cut and £25 to code the chip to my car,to disable the immobiliser completely they use a tech 1 and will charge one hours labour which is £56 at my local vaux dealer,he did say not all dealers are prepared to disable them, they just tell you it cant be done, but it can.
It was the tradeclub guy at the local vaux dealers who told me about the locksmith that did my key/chip for £18.
OR
Another more expensive option would be to buy an MBE mappable ECU with the added benefit of more power!
If you live anywhere near bolton/manchester i can put you onto the locksmith that did mine.

Thanks for your help folks,i may take you up on that offer Alan,Vox were very vague trying to tell me it couldnt be done and being rather condescending.Looks like the car will be going back down to kilmarnock when i get it running as the bonnet vent is starting to crack already!!!I told him not to use filler, anyway their problem,i will prob prep it and get them to spray it.Hopefully before Billing.
I will be towing it to vauxhall prob a week on monday
