they use citroen packs apparently, but a cav one should work. will look on epc myself, just thought i'd ask
If you have a non amplified coil pack (Usually a Sagem unit on GM, i.e 1.8 Ecotec) then it uses three pins, although the unit has four.
I can't remember which way the numbers go on this unit but the amplified one is numbered 4 3 2 1 as you look at it, I think the non amped ones are the same....in which case:

so (its an old ecu so cant use a laptop to select any internal amp if there is one) perhaps you can ground pin2 and run an amped coilpack with no problems
I'm not sure if thats possible tbh. I think the amped packs are triggered differently to the non amped coil packs, so without a means of changing the ecu you may be stuck.

it all comes down to whether the caterham vx+45s all ran dizzyless or not from the factory. i dont know hence the which coilpack are we looking at here.
its a very old mbe as well which doesnt help

Notes
1. The ground wire must be connected to either the negative terminal of the battery, or to a good earth point on the chassis
2. The 12+ battery supply wire should be connected directly to the battery positive terminal. It should not be connected via any other component such as an ignition switch.
3. Pin 3 of the 4 way Minitimer should be connected to a +12v supply supply switched via the ignition switch.
4. All wires to be kept as short as possible

no, you have to keep everything you have. the mbe runs a dizzy and it will run the setup you have or the 16v dizzy exactly the same. the only difference being the 16v one looks nicer
all you need to do is to wire the mbe in and drive off
