I have been told that i can't fit the Electronic cav turbo speedo into my cav gsi and hook it up to th F28/turbo lump when that goes in my cav gsi aswell

Butreading the dials i have on my cavgsi now whih is hooked up to theF20.they say Electronic aswel on te bottom left part o the rev counter...wtf???
Can someone PLEASE..!!!explain what typE of cav turbo speedo dial i would need to go ino my Vauxhall Cavalier GSI K REG 1993 and run te turbo engine and f28 in my car aswel!

I hear there are two types of cav turbo speedo's and am now ****en confused!:( :p

It says electronic on the rev counter cos ALL the rev counters are electronic its the Speedo that changes from a mechanical cable driven effort (Pre 94) to an electronic pulse jobby (Post 94) to make matters easy for yourself see what type of F28 you have is it the one with an electronic sender to the dash or one with a mechanical sender for the cable to plug onto ?? then use the appropriate set of clocks to match :)

rght imgonna go chek the f28 in the cavnow ad look or a somewhat rsemblence to my f20 box in me cav gsi with that white plastic spedo sender unit stuck into the box ;)
so if it hasnt got one of these in the f28 then how do i kno hat speedo toget and now ts the right one then?

whats all this about some cav turbo speedos have 8000 revs on the clock aswell? cause mine has 7000 revs on the cav turbo speedo.

7000rpm dash will have an electronic speedo 0-160mph.

On a K plate GSi you should have the later ABS system (no lump by passenger seat) with the same number of teeth on the wheel sensors at the turbo.

Adam - Check that the ABS wheel sensor teeth on the GSi and turbo are the same (count them). If they are then do this.

Otherwise you need to get your F28 drilled by VTS for a cable speedo (assuming it hasn't got one) and get a mechanical speedo

turbo clocks realy are a discussion point lately (me included). -

The gearing you need is dependant ON THE CLOCKS YOU USE

So if your gonna use the turbo (mechanical) clocks you need the blue speedo ring & associated cable end,

if you gonna use standard (140mph) clocks, or a digidash you need the black (F20) speedo ring and associted sender.

If you want to run mecahnical clocks on an F28 that has NO sppedo outlet (i.e. origional cars clocks were electric) then I suggest you call V-Tuning. I'm 99% sure they can supply the other bits you need too.

so guys, what happens when u have a f28 with a mechanical speedo and u have electrical clocks ?
You take it off the Traction Control Output from the ABS ECU (Which unless you have a V6 or 94> Turbo you won't have)

Then you'd need an amplifier from one of the ABS Inputs.

There's a How To on Cavweb.
