The conversion is pretty much all done.

The XE is in the Cav and all wired up and turning over but I am getting no spark.

I have managed to source a 20XE coil with the right module from a motor that was running.

I am pretty confident I am getting fuel but I am not getting any spark.

I was wondering if there was a test I could do to see if its the coil thats faulty or if its the dizzy etc.

I also have a single wire left over. It comes from the engine bay loom (rather than the ECU loom) and is a single red (quite thick wire) with a round connector on the end that will slide down a bolt (like the ones that go on the battery terminal). I am pretty sure it didn't come off the battery terminal as I had not taken any of the others off. It has a "swinging radius" that means it could reach to the starter motor area but I am at a loss as to where it goes and whether or not it could prevent me from getting a spark.

Any gen would be very very very grately recieved.

Have you checked the fuse? Might have gone pop with a voltage spike, stranger things have hapened. If the Leads touched the shell then it may have gone pop to, the ECU may have gone bang if the leads touched the shell as well.

On my C20XE I removed from my Calibra, there were 2 thick red cables with eyelets on the end. One went to the starter motor (engine bay loom) and the other was from the back of the alternator (ECU loom).

Then there was a big thick BROWN cable which bolted to the NEG battery terminal. I always thought this was odd, having a brown cable to earth, as brown is live in home electrics. Why didn't GM have a black cable !?!!? Oh well, such is life.

But I'll doubel check that next week when I'm working on the car again.
