I've removed the cam cover from my GSi and I cant seem to remove the breather plate...........in the how2 it says its held on with Torx bolts but mine seems to be just cross-headed screws................bloody tight mind!
Is there a reason why mines screws?
How can I get them off with very little risk of damage?
Is there anything else I should be aware of?
Should I replace the sealant when putting the plate back on?
Yes, u need to drill the holes right through the plate.
Don't worry about re-doing the sealant, the fact that you've drilled the holes means it won't be sealed any more!
The screws were torx on my Astra - perhaps someones been there allready - it's well easy to mess up the heads.
Oh, be very carefull to remove all the swarf from the holes - you don't want it in the engine. Also, remove all the old sealant.
Yeah it's strange really. Mine didn't actually do any of that but I did the mod anyway. Funny how the engines are identical inside (not including modified) but some suffer and some don't!?
mine had cross head screws too. Make sure you get all remains of rtv sealer out the cover, and also make sure all swarf from the drilled holes is removed. Dont want anything dropping into the engine.
Strange. Yeah, you may as well reset the ECU but I can't see how doing the mod could change anything. Are u sure the leads are all on properly and round the right way?!
