From the Haynes manual ( assuming the tensioner is fitted to the engine block and the new belt is fitted ): Slacken the tensioner roller and move the tensioner arm anti-clockwise until the tensioner pointer is at its right stop. Tighten the tensioner bolt. Turn the crankshaft through two revolutions, and check timing marks are still aligned. Slacken the tensioner and align the pointer as follows:
If fitting a new belt, align the pointer with the notch on the backplate.
If refitting an old belt, align it 4mm to the left of the notch.
Tighten the tensioner bolt ( 20Nm If it’s the same as the X16XEL )
make sure you turn teh crank round a couple of revolutions with a spanner before covering it all up, as when I put the new belt on a couple of days ago, and turned it over, the flippin tensioner moved. Presumdely the belt was settling in the nothces in teh pulleys or something. Took 3 attmepts to make it stay put!
