Supercharged strength for my bottom

With my modified head -prepared by a migweb kingpin + existing mods, i reckon I'll be pushing out a conservative 185 bhp.

Add on the Enem supercharger kit ( a reliable extra 65bhp on 150bhp, perhaps more if put on a 185bhp engine.)

Gives me a very torquey(290nm+) 250bhp.

So to the bottom end.

Do I run with standard or should I be strenghtening something / somewhere?

How did your cars handle with 230bhp /300nm going through the front wheels?

I plan to put in LSD/ ATB, hoping will at least cut out majority of wheelspin.
Quite nice in fact. I`ve tried som turbos in FWD cars and there is a quite big difference.

BUT, I got a Quaife LSD this year and its worth every penny. The handling of the car got much better. Before I sometimes had wheelspinn in third gear when accelerating. This is now gone (not when wet), and the car drives in that direction I point the wheels.
But beware, when slippery road, the car tends to go straight forward when you loose the grip. And this can come suddenly.

It easy to control the power with a twinscrew, if it's starts spinning - just give a bit less gas and the traction is back without losing all chargepressure (as with a turbo).

My car had very little wheelspin with the 230 bhp. Raced against both Johan Sand and another 230bhp SC Astra (with a Quafie LSD), but that didn't help him when racing against my Astra. =)

This year my Astra has been spinning more, but that's because of the increased power with the new engine. A Quaife LSD has been bought and should be installed during this winter.

I thank Bridgestone for the grip! ;-)
I`ve was beaten good to. Since Im a bad looser i try to blame the Falken GRB wheels..

I can confirm this. This summers best experience:)
My car is "parked" compared to this.
Glad you enjoyed the ride. ;)

PS. Been wathing You for some time her. I saw You were all reved up in a turbo vs SC here when you entered the same discussion at OMCs forum. No wonder that you killed that discussion quickly..
I'm too old to discuss the "turbo is superior" subject, I got tired of it. Why spend time talking to a wall when I can be in the garage developing my engine further..? ;)

Johan, is that what yours achieves?

I ask because I think I will have similar setup to you : Cold air feed, Z7 cams, ported head, Lexmaul exhaust manifold & Magnex decat system.
Correct!

When You refered to Carneborns answer I got a bit curious. I dont know what ambidient meen but if the air outside the car holds +20C the inlet air feed to the engine will be 120-130C.

A aquamist water/methanol system is probebly a good idea. I hope to have that installed when the spring comes. The high inlet temperature hasn`t caused me no problem this far but lower temp wount hurt.

I also got a bit surprised by that low inlet temp... I can confirm that it holds about 110-130 degrees celsius, depending on load and outside temp. I think I've got logs from the MBE ECU showing this. With my "test-setup" of intercooler to the ENEM kit the temp was lowered to about 65 degrees (Calibra IC) when accelerating, with a 50 mm pulley (~1,1 bar charge pressure).

Water injection is a good idea!

aquamist water/ methanol system.

...especially as where I live road temps are above 30 from May til October. (at times considerably higher).

Bringing thread back to my original point, I have stumbled across a complete LET block for 200 euros. Other than plugging the two oilways & piston swap, can I bolt this straight on to XE head with M2.8?

And is 200 euros a good deal for this?

200€ seems to be a good deal, if the block is complete and in good shape.

M2.8, do you have the new cambelt transmission and a polly-V belt for alternator & servo?

complete with crank, pistons etc 86mm bore, 135,000kms.

This I wouldnt know, engine code is 'c20xe ln' - does it make a difference?

It's a special ENEM SC kit for that type of transmission.

It's cheaper than the regular "old" XE-kit due to no need to change pulleys on the crank & alternator (already PK6-type). That kit also uses the original automatic pollybelt tension unit instead of the special made that comes with the "old" XE-kit.

So to somerise! I will need approximately £2000 pounds and some really good mate's to help me fit it? I will need to order it from Sweden and have it shipped over.

I will also need to adjust my finances to come up with £2000. is that about it? Is there any other bits and pieces I will need or is it all in this kit?
