We have a F reg Senator 3.0i 12v. the problem we have is that the mid section of the exhaust is blowing, but only one pipe. we have tried to patch it but due to my skills with Firegum(I think) being close to zero this didnt work.
We have tried to get a replacement mid section but all the places around here say that they dont stock the mid section for the Automatic cars... so I was wondering if the mid section of the Manual version would fit in place of the original Automatic mid section? or are they infact the same parts?
I shouldnt see why not, if the manual and auto have the same engine, they both give out the same emmisions, the only difference is the transmittion. So i cant see why they would be different.
Was just wondering if the size of the gearbox would have anythign to do with it? I know that other makes of cars have different exhausts for Auto and Manual versions of the same engined car - though those were front wheel drive cars so the exhaust has to go under the transmission... unlike with this where it should run alongside the transmission.
The trade club book lists just two part no.'s for the centre sections of the Senator 30NE exhaust, so it doesn't look like it matters auto or manual (the 12V doesn't have a cat, does it?)
Part No. 90399094 (LH)
90399096 (RH)
Incidentally, these are just £51 +vat each retail from Vauxhall. If you know anyone who can get you trade club, there's a significant saving to be had
my friend has a 3.0 24v senator and he got the exhuast mid section welded back together. he was quoted 200 pounds for each of the cats!! - it would probably be a cheaper solution to get a garage to weld it, if its possible.
Don't think the 12V has cats. And if it has, might as well get it de-catted anyway, it doesn't need them....
Also don't think getting it welded is worth it when a genuine Vx centre section is only £51 +vat (£32.75+vat through trade club)
the 3.0 12v didnt have cats fitted so no probs there.
if u want it to sound louder why not remove the mid boxes and have straight pipes welded in. i did and it sounded awesome
my insurance was never that expensive for mine i was only 22 when i bought mine and it cost about £330 tpft
i was actually less than my 1800 sri cavalier
