Hi...

I'm 99% way through fitting a remote start alarm with central locking control to my Mk2 Astra. All good so far except I have sussed that there is no motor in the drivers door and read on here i need to fit one. Is it possible just to fit one from a passenger door? I've read that fitting a cavalier tailgate motor will keep the key control to the system working. Any idea what model Cavalier i need to get one off? Any tips or suggestions greatly appreciated!!

Thanks for your help guys... forums are the saviour of my life! :D

So after ringing about every breakers I know, the cavi lock just isn't about, unless I wanna pay £75 for a new one... Which I don't!! :) how do the universal ones work then? Do I need a specific type? I've seen some 5 wire ones on eBay but I'm not sure about connecting it to the current system. Any suggestions?

So I found a scrappy with a cavi... Drove over and bought the tailgate motor... Fitting it to my drivers door and... Works exactly the same as the one already fitted. Pops the locks with the key but won't pop with the remote. Came to conclusion that the motor was duff and returned it. Did I do anything wrong? Just did a straight swap. No other motor arounds :-(
