Engine: 2.0 16v Dizzyless one (DIS)
Mods: Drilled airbox, powerflow zorst, de-cat.

Other day going to work, coasting to a junction, car cuts out. Try to start it, fires back up again.

Same day, in the evening, sat at a junction, car starts revving between 500rpm and 1500rpm and sounded like a sak o ****, if i pressed the accelerator made no difference and just popped and 'gargled'. Few mins later off we go, no problem.

Presumed IDC problem - cleaned it using carb, wd40 AND oil.

Same happened again - pulling out of junction, splutter, choking, sounds like shite, try and rev it hard, seems to rev 'through' it and off we go again.

Over to Brens, swop ICV for an (almost) new one, that works (tested it before putting it on by running current through it)
Go for little run, fine.
Set off to go home, car idles at 2k.Try and set off rev in 1st, gets to 2.5k and seems to hesitate, then its back to running like shite for afew secs until i rev it hard then off we go again.
Does this once more going home, in 1st gear.

ONce Im moving its fine, and runs beatifully, just when setting off etc.

I guess it sounds like misfiring ??

Have checked connection on leads and all is OK. NO ECU light errors.

Presumably first thing to change is spark plugs? Any gen as to what else it could be? :(:(

sounds like some kind of fuelling problem.

totally unrelated, but i can replicate your symptoms on my car, it does it every time i let the fuel tank get near empty.

I'm presuming this is because of my increased fuel pressure, maybe the fuel slops around and the pickup pipe takes a dreg of air.

A tear in the trunking between the air flow metre and SFI chamber would also cause your symptoms. As would dirty injectors or clogged fuel filter.

hmmm

Fuel filter was changed last weekend - Halfords one.

Havent checked piping for a tear etc, but havent touched owt round there though since I got the car....

When the car is going it runs beatifully, took it to 127mph tonight :) and got there nicely...

Have you got to take this to trax 2moro? Good luck gettin it sorted!

What bout air leak on IAC valve hoses, could be split around clips or torn. Try spraying a can of carb cleaner around that area see if any gets sucked in, if you get someone to hold revs at around 1200-1500rpm youll hear the difference if carb cleaner gets sucked in.

Throttle butterflys opening/closing properly?
