Just flicking through Septembers Total Vauxhall Issue and came across a Courtney Advert for:

Courtney Mantzel Power Cap £149.50 (between 4hp-10hp depending on 2.0 16v XE egine spec)

What it does -
The Power Cap is an alloy casting which directly replaces the sfi box and simplifies the route taken by the intake charge. This conversion gives a power increase of between 4bhp and 10bhp depending on the engines's original spec. Courtneys have improved the original Mantzel design by adding a hose connection and silicon hose to the casting.

Courtney Mantzel Power Box £550.00 (Giving a massive 21bhp increase)

What it does -
Directly replaces the tortous inlet air system and simplifies the route taken by the intake charge, removing 7' pipework and 550 degree of bends.

First Question:
Didnt Regal sell the Power Cap for like £95.00? Whats the difference between the Courtney one and the Regal one then???

Second Question:
What would you go for the 1st oneor the 2nd one?
:D

*FAO Jaime gsi.........is the Power Cap you bought from any of these places? And if not whats the diff between yours and say Courtney or Regals' one?
cheers adam

oh and a silly 1 here:...y was the SFI box designed the way it is if a direct intake like on the ecotec and the powercap would work better....actually give sum gains???:)

ah ha..! this post has sparked up abit now....:D for sum reason i aint getting email notification of post replys....  :(

sid16v..nice one...:)
so are all your cav gsi's running ok now with your different power caps then..? :)

i suppose it aint worth paying 150 bucks for a new power cap from Courtney..though i came across a guy selling a brand new one for £85.00..he payed £130 for it awhile back but didnt use itfor some reason. What im thinking is..well courtney brought out a (supposedly) new and improved power cap which is the £149.50 on that they have on their webiste 9same a sthe pic i posted up on page one of this thread) something bout they added that blue pipe as u can see in the pic...not sure whats the difference with adding that blue pipe though...
any ideas?
ta.

Have this on my Cally and it works very well, all Courtenay have done is add a Silicone pipe and increased the price, i bought mine off VKR Mantzel before he sold up to Courtenay, Cost me £130
For the quality of the Mantzel cap i think it is worth it. Anway we all know what Regals stuff is like! plus if you are going for a detailed Engine Bay it looks far more trick than the Black Plastic Jobs! With Cams, Blydenstein head and a few other Mods she is Running 190 BHP, not bad!

the powercap comes with that silicone pipe thing to connect with the existing ICV pipe.....without it ud have to adapt ur own ....

but lookin here....

the plate is not big enuff to cover the whole intake area....if it wouldve been slighly bell shaped....like to smooth out airflow over the entire surface of the TB then it would seem ok.....dunno y but it still doesnt look good to me......its even made to insure optimum flow on the small valve but not much goin to the big 1:confused:

i must be missin the obvious here....
sum1 help....
