Exhaust System - The law on Cats.

My calibra was regestered on 06 August 1992 and came with a Cat.

I know that Cats were introduced as law around the K regestration but does anyone know exactly what the law is on Cats?

Is it possible to remove a Cat and still have legal emissions? or is a Cat law either way?

I want to get a new exhaust system but I want the works, manifold to back, but is there any point doing this if I've got the stupid Cat stuck in the middle? and will I risk just blowing the Cat apart anyway? lmao

Cheers

Ok, I need a Cat - Arse!

But is it still worth getting an exhaust system?

Part of my problem is that I've had to have 3 back boxes (all standard from Vauxhall) in the last 2 years, so a better stainless steel backbox is a goer anyway, but what about the rest?

I would like both manifold and system.

Cat???????????

I`ve got a K-reg Calibra and I`m running without the CAT!!! BUT I`ve got a early engine in now out of a G-reg GTE so I can get away with it!!!
J reg cars you CAN take the CAT off all K-reg ones you do have to have the CAT!!!
I got my emissions down to 0.5% without the CAT but by law it has to be 0.3%

Hope that helps
