What do you guys thing is the best chip you can get for a cav????

#27 ·
The chip will give an OVERALL increase of about 25BHP throughout the rev range meaning at various positions at max load giving the overall sum an increase of about 25BHP.
WTF does this mean?

Do you mean that if it adds 2BHP at 5500rpm and 3BHP at 5500rpm etc and so on then the total from all those extras comes to 25BHP?

The other thing that surpises me is that you also raise the fuel presure. Surely a remapped chip could just alter the injector period for the same effect?

Let's get someone to test this chip then. I'd be happy to be the guniea pig if no one else will. Some before and after rr graphs please:D If it lives up to it's expectations I'm sure a lot of people would be happy to pay £225 for it, but before any hard evidence I'm dubious to say the least.

Just got this off the German EDS website. The english translation is oft hilarious...

How does a payment increase work actually at the sucking motor

one needs no more air, if one wants to have more performance?

The air alone understandable, there but logically at the sucking motor of none

one must this one for the motor get by on the air, into the engine press

voluntarily draws in

The performance of an Otto motor becomes of the firing angle

the knocking limit of the motor can certain, one in little limits

move a fuel enrichment for this, so for one under full burden with 98 Okt

Can drive fuel with a more pre-ignition -- >> yields more performance!

This change is created by the knowing field change there in the chip

one finds tables and lists for all one splashing times as well as firing angle, where

for all motor burdens and revolutions per minute are stored, these unfortunately are

The one already rakes one splashing times far from irritatedly, so in the series state

Raise of the fuel pressure with a simultaneous customization everyone

Partial burden knowing fields are unavoidable!

Partial burden knowing fields just hardly noticed otherwise for this one at this customization

we moved solid, this there hide an enormous payment potential is

through what can and to improve clearly the driving of the motor

the complete road performance out of lower revolutions per minute simple when brutal

to be described powerfully has!

One can at higher revolutions per minute on the roll test bed up to 15-18 hp

Increase performance in the range of the normal nominal power measure much more importantly

where is the obtained increase performance above the normal range, though?

at the motor usually is the performance strong again, this one is there

Payment increase and more as clear can behave fast up to 25 hp!

The fuel pressure regulator is, and fastened with 4 pieces of M5-Torx screw

you can exchange straightforwardly!

Only a mounted chip needs at cadet E's and Astra F's tuner-amplifiers

is exchanged, this one must at the Calibra and Vectra tuner-amplifiers

original chip being exchanged for an intercity pedestal only, this

Activity is undertaken by us free of charge.

All I can decipher from the cunning linguist's translation is that there is quite abit of potential when it comes to optimising ignition timing when you switch to 98 octane and this is the bit that they concentrate on when they do their chip. Everything else is a big blur to me ya?

Rich, find me an english speaking section ya?

Thing is, I'm not saying that this chip is not worth it - they might indeed manage to tune up more torque everywhere and the engine will indeed run better. However, the spurious 25BHP number puts me off. Nasty memories of other out of the box chip suppliers.

yeh you cant guarentee gains on every application. you could come accross one engine that is flailing on standard management and it increseases power drastically. then another which is so spot on as standard the chip looses power.

Comes back again to my original point, cant make a one size fits all and then make bold claims.

quote that made me aware of these chips:

superchips is ****e.. for your normal sucking engine (c20xe), get EDS motorsports C20XE chip.. it'll give you 15 real hp on high revs, and 25hp on mid-revs, and alot better torque on low revs.. and it costs €204, which is cheap.. also in at this price, you'll get 4 Bosch FD6TC high performance plugs and you'll also need to pump up your fuel pressure from 2.5 bar to 3.5 bar so that the engine will get all the fuel it needs to perform better (simple operation, just use a pressure checker and hit on the fuelpressure-top gently with a hammer till the pressure is at approx. 3.5 bar)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

well, a friend of mine has the EDS chip on his C20XE, and he noticed a big difference himself.. also the rev-limit is raised to 7500rpm, so that should help on your 0-60mph times also =)

oh, and he had superchips (crap) before the EDS, and, well.. he noticed a big difference, as i said, from the super****e chip to the eds chip :)
I suppose even though the limit is raised to 7.5K it would be advisable to change at 7K on a standard engine.

I'll be a guinea Pig!!

"Pick me pick me pick me"

I would be only to happy to test the chip with a befire and after rolling road report, no problems!

Whata say Gavin, I'll give it back but most likely purchase it anyway!

Cheers
Garrie

Oddball, Have been awake for some time mate, thanks!!

I would offer but i don't think it would be a true result with my car as i believe it isn't running 100% hence it's going on the rollers Fri morning. But i'm very interested in these chips, even if they only give 10bhp max without messing up the low/mid rpm power it is worth it.
