what gearbox you got? some 1.6 were big block, but i dunno what years...
if you need the lot, you've already said most of it i think...engine, box, loom, dshafts, might as well grab the brakes etc, manifold...guess thats about it. good thing is a lot of this stuff is interchangeable, so if you forget summat its no big hassle finding one. also look at reconned dshafts c/w cv joints, not a bad buy imo @ 100 n summat quid
oh we talking carbd here...err what else is there besides the starter & alternator? your existsing wiring will do that fine. you could maybe use the 1.6 ignition (its used in XE carb conversions, so i dont see why not)
*shrugs* dunno what wiring there is to change TBH, havent looked at either setup.
Stuff like d'shafts, would they come with they engine? IS that all connected, if i went to a scrappy for it, would i be able to take it all as part of the engine?! And suspension, will i need new front legs cos of the g;box?
*sees hes getting into cav terratory, summat which he hasnt done before* lmao
the shafts will be the same (he says lmao) but its the CVs that are different. the gearbox ones will be bigger, the hub end will be the same. they go into the gearbox mate and you will need them. the brakes are a simple bolt on upgrade, you shouldnt need much else doing.
not that i have done a small -> big block upgrade, so if someone says different they are probably right.
I think you have all the info you need.
Depends on what the rest of your car is like, if you have not done a geat deal else to it there is no point in swapping lumps.
Ok, heres my pitch as to why i want a better engine, my engine currently can only JUST do a ton, and this is with my foot flat on the floor as far as it will go, this means i use alot of petrol!
Forgive me for being impatient, but id like a little more go than that! Some1 has suggested a cheaper root of just sticking in a 1.6i into my car wont need suspension etc then.
I have also been told that the fact that i got one of them round carbs and not an airbox type one makes a difference too?!
i get between 350-400 miles per tank! But having said that, its at halfway and i only done 120 miles!! Really just want a bit more poke/acceleration from my, aint bothered bout sily top speeds, i just get really frustrated with having cacky acceleration!
1. Do the above and swap engines. Get a SRi engine as they have 130 bhp.
2. Sell the car and get a faster Cav.
