nice little unit, along with its big brother 1.6 they are very tunable engines, mod for mod more percentage power gains than 2 litre engines, set of taper throttle bodies will bang them straight up to 120bhp.
Oddball - do you know how easy it would be to fit one into a nova that has a 1.2 carbd engine in at the mo? (if not it doesnt matter, i will find out from someone else)
the biggest hassle is the alternator you have to 'dress' the drivers side inner wing slightly to allow alternator to clear. other than that the exhaust needs modifying but thats it.
what about all the engine management stuff as my engine hasnt got any at the mo. Do all the electrics just bolt on to the engine somewhere or do they go inside the car somewhere?? (i apoligise if its a bit of a stupid question but i really dont have a clue as ive never dun an engine conversion before)
........ it will probably have a cat on the exhaust wont it? which i wont have to keep on because my car is an F reg and i just wondered how much power these CATS take out of the engine?
by the way, u dont need to mod the anything for the alternator it clears easily. u need to fit a fuel tank from a 1.2i, or a gte/gsi tank with pump. uprate ur fuel lines. u would need a full gte exhaust system to fit onto the 16v manifold.
the imobiliser may give u problems on the engine!!
speedo not working? why would it not work? it runs off the same gearbox connection?
and u can get the imobiliser circuit taken out. i could get you a number if u like for a qoute!!
the ecu shud b fine, dont give any probs as far as i know. iv got the corsa gsi engine in my nova and iv not had any probs (apart from the idle valve but iv fixed that now
