The wrong size profiles wont affect the reading of the rev counter WRT to the speedo , the speedo is unware of the tyre size, you could fit polo mints on the end of the stub axles and it still wouldnt affect the relationship between the speedo and the rev counter. Larger or smaller diameter tyres will only affect the relationship between *actual road speed* and the speedo. So its irrelevant....

My dear SriCrew, somebody has replaced the original dash with one from a lower spec model, and changed the revcounter face.

Thats why - your revcounter is calibrated for 7000rpm where the needle is now, but the face is reading 8000rpm

:D

Arent you listening  ???

at some point, the revcounter has packed up.

somebody has bought a standard cav's 7000rpm revcounter.

they have replaced the FACE with the original 8000rpm one.

thus, at those revs its reading 8k on the dial face, but the internals are registering 7k.

Am I not making sense?

Why would some one go to all that trouble....... of changing the counter face a garage wouldn't!

Although it is also a very good point.

that's true, wouldn't it have been easier to just get a complete Cav GSi/Calibra 16V clock with the 8k marker?
Maybe this person wanted to keep the mileage as twas?????
So why not just change the rev counter section.

not unless the 8k rev counter is more £'s than the 7k rev counter.

No sorry Haynzze, can't hear you. Fingers in ears lmao

Someone would be very very stupid if they were fitting a 7K counter, they should just leave the 7K face on it and have it read accuratly
