I'm getting hold of an XE block which I intend to strip and rebuild.
I won't be doing this for a while, whats best way of storing it?
Is it ok to drop the oil and leave it dry as it's being stripped down anyway
Well....the plan is to slowly get the bottom end rebuilt when i get spare cash.
Then source a head have the works done on that.
Run the engine until I can get the cash for the 208 tp kit.
so looking for an engine that can handle 200bhp+
get rods shotpeened then, dont spend 600+ where its not required
balance & grind the crank, new bearings, arps all round, some nice pistons, bfo manifold, 208 kit, cams & verniers
220 happy horses
pistons 400
bolts 100-120 iirc for the lot
rebore & crank grind 100
headgasket 80
headwork 200? largely depends where you go and what you have as extras
manifold 200
tbs whatever, they still 2000?
cams & verniers 550
lmao
Aye still here.
Deffo gonna go the way of full rebuild then throttle bodies.
Even if I get the rid of the GSi i'll buy another Vaux and drop the XE in it.
Maybe even buy a mk2 or Cav and use it as a second car.
