it wasn;t me that wired up the car and the guy that did is away otoday so is there ought that would coause this that i cancheck at da mo????

check the wires in the cabin. check the green plug- there's a red/blue and a green wire, make sure these are joined correctly-ie green (rev counter) on the xe loom (in your car) matches up to the LET loom and that the chunky red/blue matches with chunky red/blue
let us know how you get on.

thick black with white line? sounds like the main ecu power. can u get pics of the spare plug and ill tell you what it is.

you say there is no ecu light. this would indicate that power isnt gettin to the ecu, yet you say the fuel pump primes.

when you turn on the ignition the fuel pump should either prime for a ocuple seconds then stop or not prime at all until you try and start the car.

make sure the thick red is on the starter and that the switch wire is on the starter aswell. make sure all you earths on the ecu are securely fastened down and make sure the gearbox earth is also good. if in doubtt put a jump lead between the engine inlet manifold and the negative terminal of the battery and see what happens.

right...bit more investigation work has revelalec that the fuel pump relay is buzzin like mad in time with the rev counter goin up n about.. BUT if u jiggle the wires it slow dies down and ecu light flickers on... but if u try and start it just makes a whiring noise from fuel pump... ive tried a different realy and same problem

as for the plug i can;t get a digi cam at da mo.. its bascially a ten pin plug,, blck with a green and then a blue bit on it

The spare plug, is it on the car loom rather than the LET loom and by the washer bottle ? if so leave it.
No ECU light suggests the ecu is not on, there's a power lead (Black and White) that runs round the bulk head to the battery but also a black wire that is ignition live and turns the ecu on.
Rev counter sounds like the wires are not matched up in the footwell.

wires are matched.. i just checked.... this ignition live. is it just another colour match in fotwell?? the guy who wired it has matched all the wires colour for colour.. and ive run the black and white to battery

oh and shoul dit be dark green to light green?

No it's in the engine bay, on the end of the LET loom there will be a single black wire that would of had a plug on it, it needs connecting to the black wire on the car loom, there should be a connector on the top of the gearbox which has a thich red and thin black wire, this is the one (thick red was live for the XE ecu and thin black is ignition live).
Not the clearest I know.

its a bad earth im sure of it mate. ive had that myself. fuel pump relay buzzing like mad. changed it, it was the same. ended up being the ecu loom earths that bolt onto the inlet manifold that were slack and not making a good contact.

was just out havin another look.... there is a spare plug above the gearbox. bout a centimeter na half big can;t see waht colours tho. too dark..
also the black with white line wire changes to a red before it goes through the bulkhead.. is that bad?
