Monza GSE 3.0 12V won't start...

Still can't get my 2nd Monza started...

It will fire up and run for a few seconds then stall. Any gas pedal application and it stalls.

So far, I have tried (using parts from my other GSE, which I use daily)
Plugs
HT leads
Dizzy cap
Fuel pump and filter
ICV
Fuel pump relay
Fuel pressure regulator
Turning the dizzy 180 degrees.

Adjusting the dizzy a tad does seem to make a tiny difference, but I still can;t get the thing to idle....

any ideas?

only skimmed over this thread so if this has been mentioned before, ram it

check the injection relay wiring and the actual relay, resolder it up.

also could be a duff crank sensor or connection.

TPS will cause it to die when throttles applied if its fubar, or incorrectly adjusted

I keep on thinking air leak.

When my vacuum hose went on my old escort it would try and start and would sometimes just catch but would always stall.

Doesn't have a crank sensor, at 90k I wouldn't think the head had been skimmed.
There's no air leaks, the fuel pump relay is ok, as are any other relays I found lurking behind the fuse box.

Not suspecting TPS as I had it running for 20mins+ last Friday and it ran twice today, for a few minutes each time, before dying.

I've removed fuel pump, relay, alternator and the 4 relays from behind the fuse box from it and put them on the running Monza and it's fine (apart from the brakes are a little spongy).

this 30 Amp fuse..... any idea which one it was? I've checked all the fuses in the fuse box and none are blown.

Last Friday it ran twice for 20minutes+..... and it ran very smooth..
I don't think the injectors are dodgy.... and it would be highly unlikely that all 6 would fail.

I'm still going with the fuel side of things. But am open to suggestions of other stuff too..... keep it coming chaps, this is a simple one, extremely frustrating, but simple....

To eliminate the fuel tank as the cause of the problem, tomorrow we will run the fuel pump from a 5litre can of Esso's finest.
A holed fuel tank has been known to prevent these cars from running apparently. And it has been run dry at least once.

When SimonP bought 6 'new' injectors we fitted them and the bugger wouldn't start.
We took the fuel rail off and turned it upside down with the injectors still in it and wound the car over. Result... not one injector worked!
But what I'm getting at is can you do a similar test? To check the injectors are actually working?

Again have you checked the 30amp fuse that is under the dash on the drivers side and NO IT NOT in the fuse box. You might have to remove the air ducting but there is a 30 amp fuse under there.

As i said previously i had exactly the same problems as yourself, checked everything, tested everything, eventually spoke to GM and they told me ther is a master fuse under the drivers side, something to do with dash and ignition and on older cars will eventually be prone to dry joints.

Eventually found it after two hours, replaced it and the monza was back to its old self. Could not beleive the trouble that had caused me for a month.

But just to say everything you have said sounds like the same problem i had, please check.

Well now I know where it is, I'll have a look.
It's all well and good saying things like check the 30A fuse but unless i know where it is, the info is of little use.

I had it running again yesterday, not back down there until Wednesday now but withe a little luck it'll fire up lovely (again).

Okie doke.... here's the (rather good) news...

It runs peachier than a very peachy thing (with the slight exception of a slippy alt. belt, but I'll sort that in due course).

The diagnosis (as far as we can tell) is as follows...
Initially, it was a fuel delivery issue. I know there was fuel in the tank, but it just wasn't being delivered to the injectors in sufficient quantity/pressure.
After I reconnected the petrol tank, it still had a bit of an issue with fuel.

Then, I forgot to switch off the battery charger and cranked it over a few times. When the charger was removed, it arc'd....

We thought nothing of it until we were about to give up, remembered the arc'ing and swapped ECU's with the running Monza....

There endeth our misery. S'all good now.

Thanks to all for ideas/comments/suggestions.....

Let Prepping Commence!!!!!
