MIG now has discount insurance with HIC, who have specialised in performance car insurance for many years. Quotes from HIC can rarely be beaten and we urge all MIGClub and MIGWeb members to ensure that you phone them for a quote next time you need to renew. Although MIGClub members will receive are larger discount, HIC will also give a discount to MIGWeb users too.

To get the best quote, please call 08451290290 and ask for Phil Newman. Being insured through them myself, I can personally recommend them as being efficient and cheap - saving me almost £300 over my previous insurer.

Please mention MIGWeb when calling and if you are a member, please ensure you let them know.

Visual mods are covered at no extra cost. Power increases of up to 10bhp are free (covers a performance air filter and back box). Further power increases result in sensible increases in premium. Legal cover is free. Track cover is free.

This year they aiunt gonna be too hot... mine has increased 1 year NCD and gone up £400 lmao , Apparantly they are going thro a major £5 million claim
Only £4999600 to go then. lmao Seriously though, that is very poor. They will just loose business by making there customers pay over the odds for insurance like that. Shame, cause they sounded like they used to be good.

HIC are a broker.
i don't see how a large claim is putting them out of pocket.

i just took cover with highway through HIC a couple of months ago.
was £640 corsa gsi at 22. conversion price for 2ltr is based on quote of donor which is £780 in this case from cally 16v.

Just thought I would phone back and try explaining my situation in a bit more detail. Spoke to someone different who actually sounded like he wanted to help.

He phoned me back this morning and pulled out a cracker......well not quite, but he has came up with the cheapest quote so far. £320 Fully comp with the few wee mods that I have done.

Just goes to show that it also depends on who you speak to.

HIC have redeemed themselves in my book :)

HIC just sent my renewal notice, they are over £550 more than the cheapest quote I've got so far.
Miles, interested to know how it compares against Admiral as thats who I went with, at what I think is a great price. Although yours is modded and mines standard.....

yeah I've seen this and Im already know what the comp offer, without mods declared its £800 with Churchill and with them decalered the best is £975, that with Adrian Flux.

Im simply preparing for the inevitable, a higher renewal from HIC shortly. Whjat do they hope to gain though? they need to recopu some money by driving their customers away? makes no sense to me:rolleyes:

Just rang them for a quote on my 1993 Cav SRi 8v, I've got 5 years NCD, 3 points and nothing else and they battered me with £650 with highway underwriting. Managed to get a cheaper rate on confused.com of £540 thru Ensleigh in Sheffield with highway underwriting again.

Not always the cheapest, but very helpful.

Get yourself something like a Yugo 45 or 850 mini or, worst case

http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/WW...category=CARS&channel=CARS&id=200436159258867

Spend betwen £50 and £100 buying the car, insure it third party only, on limited mileage (1000), maximum excesses etc and it'll cost you like £100 max even with your age/experiance.

Sell the car after a year as a no-mot car for the same price (possibly even more if you tart it up, polish, MOT etc) and as a bonus you just saved 25% on your insurance + have a years worth of your own insurance.

I'd be interested to know what your insurance would be on that Micra link above. Surely not a lot? A Yugo 45 would be cheaper but can't find one on Autotrader....

yeh good idea if you can stand driving the damn things

have a fiat uno 45 and its not the greatest in thing in the world to ride around in

but then again i look damn cool ;) lol

those yugo things look even worst an old woman has one at work.

I just got my mk3 Astra 1.4 LS at auction, winning bid £150 :)

just needed a bit of cleaning and its pretty good cept for one huge scrape down the side, but drives well with only 53,000 miles warrented

shame about insurance, as has been said but.. nice car lol

thanks again FBI

I got my renewal notice from HIC for this year, i thought they were taking the ****!!!
I'm running around in a k reg 1.4 astra van,( untill the Mantas are finished ), i have 10 years no claims, no points, driving for 14 years, live up a hill in a valley surrounded by sheep...
THEY WANTED £800 lmao lmao lmao lmao lmao lmao
I rang them and asked why it had gone up, there answer was they only use one insurance company now, that is Highway insurance.
I asked them how they could call themselves a broker when they only have one company policy to choose from?
The question fell on deaf ears
I rang Norwich Unoin and got covered for £250. ( next year they can get stuffed as they have just announced another jobs cut/ transfer to india ! )
Why do we have to deal with these con artists year on year, fighting to get a decent quote

A few people have asked what HIC were like to deal with in the event of a claim so i thought i would give my 2p

I was rear ended while stationary at a pedestrian crossing a few weeks back. Was a saturday afternoon so couldn't speak to them till the Monday.

HIC were brilliant to deal with

Even though the guy that hit me did a runner and police were involved they had a hire car at my door by lunchtime the next day. Claim was settled in 7 weeks which I believe is good but probably would have been much sooner if there was no hassle with police reports etc. They gave me callbacks without any prompting and kept me informed of what was happening and who was dealing with my case.

I just went back with them for another year

96 Vectra 1.8; 23yrs old; 2yrs no claims; 2 yrs driving; track cover; legal cover; Drive anything else. Quote: £425 :D

EDIT 23/12/04: Guy that ran into me got £400 fine and 6 points.
