Valve stem seals, how much?

How much would it roughly cost to have the valve stem seals replaced?

I've been looking through my Haynes manual and I think it's too big of a job for me to attempt.

Also how serious of a problem is it? (blue smoke coming out of the exhaust when starting from cold).

Valve stem seals themselves are a few quid at most,
Its fitting them thats the problem!
The head has to come off, which at the very least means new head gasket, new bhead bolts, new cam belt.
Give it a go yourself its not hard,if you get stuck get the mechanic in then.
No doubt vaux would charge you around £500,even a small garage is gonna want a few hundred at least.
Just follow the instructions in the haynes manual 'word for word' and youll be ok.

To remove a cylinder head, repair it, replace it and fit the timing belt correctly is not an easy job at all.

With experience, knowledge and time, then yes you should have no problems. But a novice, if you are one, will surley struggle.

You need to ask if its really that bad and needs doing.
