Hi all... i have got me Corsa 1.4sri and for the first few months of having the car it ran fine... when i was fitting a K&N induction kit i noticed some wires tapped up, i checked up and they run from the ecu to the idle controle and 2 other factors of the fule injection, 5 months after having the car i started to get the engine warning light on the dash coming on when ever i stopped at the lights after a week this stopped and now when ever the car idles the rev's are all over and they are also sticking at about 3000+ rev's i am also getting tapping noise from the car when ever i putmy foot down from 2nd through to 4th gear, i have checked the cam and that is fine. but now the car is srtugling to start i have to have my foot to the floor to get it to start and then it runs rough for about 5mins. CAN ANY ONE PLEASE HELP AS MY OTHER HALF KEEPS THRETANING IT WITH PETROL AND A MATCH. :(

Take off the K&N, and use some of that wynns carb/injector cleaner stuff. Check the connections on the air mass meter are fine. Take the connector out and clean the contacts then make sure it plugs back in correctly. It should be located in the airbox trunk where your K&N is. If there are no wires coming from it then its probably been removed and taped up. It normally goes from the trunk to the multec control module, along with idle control etc. So its probably worth checking out that. Air mass sensors are expensive, mine went and the previous owner forked out a lot to get it fixed at vauxhall, this might be why your is taped up? If its gone then the ECU has probably tried to re-tune your engine wrongly, which might explain your other problems. But I'm not so sure about the knocking sounds. If it is the air mass sensor then reconnect a new one. (easy steal from the scrappy ;) ) and try resetting your ECU. To do this, just disconnect the battery for 1-2 hours, then reconnect and start the engine and just leave it to do its own thing for about 5 minutes then take it for a normal drive.

If its not the air mass sensor then try finding out what the wires are from. The multec does loads of stuff so theres quite a lot of stuff coming off it so it might take a while with a haynes manual wiring diagram. If you cant find out then the Vauxhall Diagnostics machine should be able to tell what it is, but not cheaply!

Edit: Just realised your engine might not have and air mass sensor, might be air pressure sensor or something. Anyway, just check all the wires from the multec and see if you can figure out what has been cut because thats your problem...

cheers for the advice i will go and tour a few scrappys tomorrow... the pipe rinning from the k&n does have a sensor attached but the pipe has a nasty split right where it attaches i have checked behined all the tape wrapped around the wires but all the cables are intact... but i will try reseting the ECU and let you know what happends...

Cheers again :)

I have Cracked it :D , the idle controle valve was full of S**t and there was also an air leak that was sending the revs all over.... But... i have made a major boo boo, the bolts that hold the Idle CTRL valve in place have snapped, bot bolts have snapped inside the throttle body, one is resessed so i have no hope with that one but one is sticking out little bit so i can get pa piar of grips to it, or is it pointless and will i have to source another throttle body,

And to top my day off some one had left a F**king Brick in the road  and i drove right over it at about 40 and no my fox evo 5 titanim alloys have a dent the size the grand canyon :( ... oh well an excuse to buy a new set of Ally's lmao
