Pistons are out...

...took the pistons out today ready for some new rings next weekend.

All came out with no problems to report. All bores are very clean and score free. All pistons are in good nick with no marks around the rim/edge.

All rings are intact, again with no marks. Strange strange :confused:

Ah well... head goes off on Monday so i guess we'll see if there are any stem seals fecked inside that.

Blue smoke on revving/under load after fitting my TBs. Had various ideas about fuelling mapping etc etc. Couldnt take the chance of something really letting go though so I decided to rip the mofo apart.

Aside from anything it's been a great learning experience :) lol

good to see you get stuck dave!! proper car work this is, none of this flamer kit fitting or that kinda lark!!

should go back together warren, its come apart with no major hassles!!

piston rings can give all sort of problems, and you'd never tell just by inspecting.

the only way to get some idea is to measure the end gaps, and ideally, the bores as well.

so don't worry, new rings will most likely stop the oil burning - make sure the bores are honed though, and the engine given a mini-run in.
