How often should the cambelt be changed, my MK3 has a full Vauxhall history since new and has only been changed at 75,000 its now on 119,000. Should I change it soon? What is the recomended interval? (its a C14se BTW).
...also, I have changed the filters, oil, plugs and leads, is there anything else I should be looking @ on a car this age?
Definately get it done....don't even think about it...I had a 1.4 Astra mk3...sucker went on me....£550 later(and that was 6 years ago!)I got it back from Vauxhall.I was lucky it was only an 8 valve, apparently 16 valves are never the same again if they go.
Vauxhall currently advise replacement cambelts every 40,000 miles for ALL belted engines in GM cars, regardless of the recommendation made by Vauxhall when the car was new, in some cases as high as 80,000 miles.
my engine was apart a cople of days and the reccomend you change the camblet everytime you take it off, it had done 20k so it was about right fora change!!
