Does anybody know why the gears arnt as smooth when the engine is cold as they are when it as warmed up? i have changed the gearbox oil . I have also adjusted the clutch cable up and down. The mileage is 61,500.
My 1.6 16v is just the same, have to be real gentle till its all warmed up. That also applies to the engine, when its cold it sounds like a washer machine full of nuts and bolts, only lasts about 30 - 60 secs.
That is probably your hydraulic lifters loosing their oil when the car has stood for a while (i.e overnight) until the oil gets back up to the hydraulic lifters it will rattle.
Mine does the same, not the smoothest of gears and the rattle last a while then seems ok.
But i am suprised the car is still running esp with Evil driving it around
