I have a Cavalier 2.0l Sri with Ecotech engine and wonder if anyone can help me with the following problem.
When I accelerate the engine revs and it takes a couple of seconds before the car actually speeds up. This is very noticable from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th.
I thought it was the accelerator cable and so removed it and cleaned it out with de-greaser, some rubbish did come out but no real difference was noticed.
I realise that the Ecotech engine is not the best one to have but I would expect more response than what I have now.
yeah do a full service, oil, filter, airfilter, plugs, fuel filter, coolant, brake fluid maybe. Check the leads, new ones are expensive, probably dont need them.
2 years is too long, even if you do a low mileage.

Clutch slipping surely??
try handbrake on, put it in gear.
let the clutch pedal up slowly and increase revs.
If the revs fly up then clutch is prolly worn, if the car stalls then clutch is ok methinks?
Many thanks for all your help. I shall get in touch with the local mechanic and sort out the service and get him to look at the clutch.
