seem to have way too much crank case pressure , ive replaced the cam cover gasket several times in the last month, as it keeps pi**ing out oil,
the hose on the pipe that runs parralel to the dip stick has split pi**ing oil all over the manifold, i have cleaned the filter in the cam cover out but im considering removing it all together to reduce the pressure, obvioulsy i will clean all the hoses out and check for blockages, but is there anything else i should consider??
blow by/head gasket are my 2 main fears at the moment not because they are especially difficult but because ive just spent a fair bit getting through the mot, and i need my car every day.
any way nuff of that moaning, i will do a comp test but on a very recent one it got 200 psi across all pots no water/oil contamination.
if im still getting good comp were do i look next ?
just had a thought, dont think its blow by as i would expect the weakest link at the crank end from excess pressure would be the sump gasket , not a hose at the top of the engine , no leak from sump.........yet
Well if you are sure that the rings and gasket are fine then make sure that there are no blockages. Fit a new gasket to the rocker box (aftermarket ones can be to thin) but this time stick the b'stard on with RTV so it won't blow out.
Don't assume that your rings are ok because you get good compression. My compression was spot on, but the engine was burning oil & breathing heavily - all four oil scraper rings were seized!
mat.
