i beleive ste_nova runs stock 1.2 rad in his 2.0 xe nova, the 1.6 is about 2 inches deeper iirc, depending on which you have, if the rad sits on 'stilts' at the bottom its the small one, if not its the bigger one
The standard radiator "overcools" a 1.2 Nova, so it certainly has some reserve of cooling power.
Strictly, it doesn't overcool because the thermostat shuts off, but we left winter blanking in place for two years, by mistake, without any signs of overheating!
i used to run a mk2 1.2i stilted rad with no probs
then i fitted a cheap full height pattern rad and it was ****.. used to over heat if held above 100mph for very long
now i run a valeo full height one and it's fine
the old full height pattern one has gone on my 1.4 and it's overcooled... you can see the stat opening and closing when cruising on the mway
