I need to do my mantas clutch tomorrow, got a nice sprung paddle jobby from SBD, but i found out i might not have the correct flywheel on for it, i expected it to be a potted one, as its a late engine with blue injectors and diff cambelt, ie post 93/4.

i have rang my local scrappies to no avail, found a local place, just vauxhall parts, nr newcastle airport, the guy said he aint got one in, but does have an ecotek one, which he thinks is the same as the late XE one.

i need confirmation of this as it would be £30 down the drain.

many thanks.

mark.

aye, but the cover cost more than the clutch, and i need it done tomorrow, and dont wanna take it all apart again.

would the std cover be ok with an uprated clutch? got told this cover was best as its uprated?

sorry 4 the stupid posts.

it wont help you, dont think the pot fly fits the manta box
it probably will like, but it still wont help you lmao way to try and turn a 30 min job into a 3 hour engineout fest

Why would it not?

The clutch plate on both types sits the same height above the flywheel surface.

The early clutch plate was potted, late were flat and the flywheel potted

exchange it
and yeah it will be fine TBH, most people dont bother when its a sprung paddle thing as thats not really harsh like a proper clutch would be

wasnt sure about the bellhousing, the early setup isnt the same width at the rim at all, just in the centre. i did think it would fit tho, was just saying cos i have never seen a potted fly on a RWD ever

If your clutch is already heavy, then deffo change the pressure plate.

The spring fingers work harden over time, so will only get worse.

hmmmm, i am having problems engaging some gears, i know the box aint doin too well, so swappin it for a spare, also changin the propshaft as the uj's are shafted, creating play and the shaft is bouncin off the bottom of the car.

i cant tell exactly what is wrong tho, thats why i decided to change everything, plus with my upcoming mods, i wanted a decent clutch to take the power, this one is rated to 230bhp.
