Ridiculous quotes on XE corsa

I have a friend who is struggling to insure an xe corsa. I recommended all the usual suspects to him, HIC, SKY, BRENTACRE, etc, but theyre all coming back with ridiculous quotes

My 2.0 nova costs £250 a year, with all mods declared. Cage, buckets, harnesses etc etc.

He's 27. Clean liscence, no convictions, trying to insure an otherwise standard xe corsa and getting quotes no less than £900!

Anyone else had this problem? And why?

insurance is going up mate, might be the area he lives in they go by crime rates on post-codes and how likely the type of car is to be stolen.

And Just to add insult to injury for him, i rang HIC today to see how they felt about me swapping my SEH for the XE on 45's...........

"No problem sir, based on approx 170bhp an extra £175 + £25 admin will cover it"

Thought i may aswell update. It was down to his area. I forgot he'd moved onto the doorstep of a very rough estate....

Insured it at his mums address which made it much cheaper....

My astra GTE 16V was £142 fully comp this year with no NCB as that's on my other car ..... £900 is just plain theft !!

We've all been through the rough patches of insuring cars when young, But once over 25 should start getting rewarded really. Agreed £900 is criminal.

insurance is def on the up quickly, i had to pay £550 fully comp on my astra v6 all declared and im 33 with 5 years ncb on my daily van plus 1 year ncb on the astra and thats on a limited milage of 3000 per year. i was thinking it should be about £300 at my age.
