crazy quote for tommi makinen

rite went and test drove a tommi makinen on sat happy enough with it but went and just done a quick check for insurance there and it is bloody rediculous what they are quoting,

im 28 have had my linence many years now and currently drive astra vxr i have 2 years nc as had a bump in the snow and claimed from insurance (should have just paid for repairs my self)

so i dont understand where they pull there prices from????

can any 1 give me a heads up to a decent insurer

I've gotta renew soon on my focus.
Last year paid £750 and think they are going to ask £2100 to renew this year!! So shopping round and I've got it down to £600 so definitely worth it.

yeah i am checking online atm but i think i will phone a few companys tomorow, does it make a difference that it is an import? and when it comes up on the compare site it says evo v is that not a 5 when the car is a 6

I don't think 1500 is that bad tbh. You've got a fault accident on your recent history and it's a very high risk import.

You'll probably beat it, but don't be expecting 500 quid or something, insurance has rocketed this year. Greenlight and Sky are good. Members of a few forums get 10% off with Sky. Tbh though, unless substantially modified nobody ever beats Admiral for me.

Adrian Flux have never (in 10 years of trying) come up with a competitive quote for me though, not sure why people rate them so much.

what do you mean by high risk import? i would accept 1k but not over that as it is pretty high in my opinion,

Hmmm, dunno.... just beem quoted £1200 on a 2000 model Audi S4 and I'm 29, full NCB, good area yadda yadda. But as has been said, basically ring round numerous people... I'be found certain "specialists" can be insane for some cars yet mega cheap for others whilst the high street companies can be strangley cheap for car that you'd class as high risk. Total lottery, nae pattern to it so keep ringing and consider a tracker, limited mileage, increasing your excess and adding an old woman, liek yer maw... that sometimes helps a bit.

yeah thats what i am gona do chap did add a female friend to it and it helpd but like you said i will ring around tomorow, a tracker limited milage option isnt for me as i generaly do a fair few miles, never thought about the excess tbh but every thing is worth looking into as there is no point in paying over the odds

Er, a very fast grey import? Insurers **** themselves at the sight of something like that. Go to Ford and price up a Focus bumper then go to Mitsubishi and ask for a TME bumper and you'll see one of the reasons that the TME is so expensive to insure.

Wouldn't count on it going down seeing as much insurances have gone up between 20-40% this year.

ah well, what to do, i am sick of my vxr its just becoming (in my opinion) a poor car and the value is droping on them like know ones buisness and they are slow yes it go's over 150 on private roads but its just not doing it for me any more and want a 4x4 and saw the evo drove it and loved it.

yeah true mate but god do we need to be like 60 years old to drive some thing relativly fast, yeah its 400bhp with print out to prove it but i personaly dont think its that fast, maybe i am just a bit on the special side and wont realise that my car previous cars and future cars are pretty nippy until i get banned for speeding or some thing or go through the pearly gates backwards in a ball of fire but then i wont know that lol you get what im saying tho?

think al just bite the bullet or look for some thing that hasnt got such a label but with similar power and 4x4

I insured a 1.2 16v Corsa B yesterday via HIC and thought they were taking the P with a £200 quote. Argued them down to £153 though with the help of confused.com - found the same policy with the same insurer cheaper and they eventually moved their price down so it pays to have an alternative on the screen before you ring around.

They insure my Nova. I know its no tommy mak, but its 2.0 8v with cam, carbs, exhaust, full roll cage, buckets, harnesses all declared.

Im 25, Cant use my NCB as its in use on my van. no points. BIG conviction 7 years ago......
