Recently got an unbelievable policy, Recommendation.

Decided to cancel the insurance on my nova as my company wouldnt have been able to get their head around the mods.

Car is 92 nova 2.0 8v, bike carbs, cam, 4 branch and stainless, 6 point cage, buckets, harnesses, brakes and 15" steels all declared.

Im 25, no points, no convictions in the last five years, but do have a dd40 and dr10 from 7 years ago which still needs declaring. No NCB to use as its in use on my van

Rang flux and got quoted £859. Third party !

Rang HIC, £250 TPFT, with use of other vehicles, breakdown and 90 days european cover.

Couldnt get my bank card out quick enough!

Highly recommend them for price. Hopefully wont have to deal with them for anything else

Now that is good. What gets me is HIC wouldn't quote me as my current policy is with Flux and they are pretty much one of the same company
Please ensure all events queries are pm'd in my direction. Please be patient and i will get back to you very soon.

I actually had to ask her "Are you sure you've got that right" ? I got the paperwork through the other day and the premium is actually only £220, Then a £30 admin fee

I did forget to mention thats a 3k per year agreement. But i do about 25k a year in the van, Nova is just for fun and fair weather.

Il still try going direct to the company though as HIC are only the broker.

be very carefull with good prices, i insured my corsa turbo with hic, i declared everything ie 2.0 turbo engine, roll cage etc, but it wasnt untill the policy ran out and i cancelled the renewal i realised they had listed the car as a 1.6 engine so my insurance was actually void....very scary!!

i had trouble with hic when i had my nova, refused to quote me due to the roll cage. the only company that would do it was nig through flux

Think they make the rules up as they go along, I told them about all this through gritted teeth and they couldn't have cared less.

Them making a mistake doesn't invalidate your insurance. Even if you neglect to tell them something that won't invalidate it - it'll just mean that any pay out for your OWN car will be ****ed.

As said, try and get classic insurance, if you've got a pre 91 car and are insured on something else, it's usually only a couple hundred bucks a year.

Fair enough, Footman James who I got a quote off the other day told me it was 20. Depends who you're with obviously.

Re: Recently got an unbelievable policy, Recommendation.

    Quick update on this one....

My renewal came through this week. I was dreading it going up 10 fold, as i was sure they had made a mistake last year.

However £305 to automatically continue with the policy.

Bargain i think. I will be speaking to them on the phone this week with a view to getting it down a bit further, as its now kept in a sequre unit and i didnt get anywhere near my 3k limit so will lower it to 2k.

Everything is in black and white and there apppear to be no errors.

(And it would appear that the rumours HIC wont find prices for engine swaps is nonsence.)

Re: Recently got an unbelievable policy, Recommendation.

The GTE's insurance renewed on th 18th. Got the email saying it'll auto renew. "Like hell it will!" I thought, mentally gearing up to do the slog round the usual companies, which, to be fair to HIC, they normally match. But the renewal was £190. OK the car is standard, but I was pleased. That's 3k miles a year, commuting and other cars. I phoned them to make sure, then noticed £36 for the breakdown cover, which I don't need, so I asked the guy to bin that. "So it's £160 then?" Yep the guy says and a week later the correct documents plop through the letter box. That was the only mistake as I normally happy for the PDFs to be emailed to me. But it's no bad thing.

On the downside when I had a Vectra project on the go they wouldn't touch it as it was worth under £2k, whereas Admiral just added it to Sharon's multi-car for £50. Easy.
    They're there, in their room.

Thats a good result too! Although my nova is valued just shy of £2k and they still dont seem to have a problem

I think they just close their eyes, Push 3 buttons on a calculator, then open them again and tell you thats the best price they can get.
