are engine conversions etc covered?
dont expect next years policy to be a great deal
I insured with CK a while back on a club deal policy and when renewal time came they were a good dose more expensive
SORRY - JUST SEEN THIS - PREMIUMS ONLY INCREASE IN THIS WAY IF YOU HAVE DONE AN AMENDMENT TO WARRANT THE INCREASE, OR MAYBE LOST NCB DUE TO A CLAIM.
PREMIUMS GENERALLY DON'T INCREASE AT RENEWAL. IF THEY DID, IT WOULD BE POINTLESS BEING INVOLVED IN OVER 150 CLUBS.
OUR RENEWAL RETENTION AVERAGES 80% OR MORE EACH YEAR SHOWING THIS TO BE THE CASE.

why is it not competitive for 'SK' postcodes? i would of got a quote as my renewal was due this week but I didnt bother because you put that.
Unfortunately it's all to do with claims statistics.
An inordinately high number of claims come from these postcodes, simple as that. It's not a case of a few points higher but a much greater percentage than the norm.
The insurers did actually tinker with individual postcodes but it didn't work sadly. I suppose 'once bitten, twice shy'.
The scheme would just not exist if the insurers included these postcodes because of the losses that these have historically caused.

what a waste of 6 mins of my life that was
they will not cover cars with stripped interiors, roll cages, harnesses they will only give agreed value on standard cars not on modified ones, they will cover mods individually but if your car gets stollen as a whole there not covered.
just thought id save most miggers a phone call
''THE REAL ROB''
You are not fully correct.
It's true we don't cover cages or Agreed Value on heavily modified cars but we will offer Agreed Value on low mileage per annum, slightly modded cars.
Re your final point, I have pasted the explanation about total loss claims for modified cars from the Claims Manager at the nsurance company which I trust will satisfy everyone -
When calculating a total loss settlement on a modified vehicle we simply offer the market value and make a positive or negative allowance for the mods. Similar to a standard calculation we would :
Each car is different so the logical approach is to view each vehicle on its merits. On difficult cases the claims department seeks advice via a qualified engineer (field or inhouse) before committing to offer. It often proves very difficult to agree to settle on such cases and as a result modified vehicles tend to be settled by experienced and technical adjusters
- Cross check Glass's guide to the standard spec - allowing for mileage
- Take into consideration service history, number of owners any pre existing cosmetic damage (if known)
- Cross check Auto trader for any similar modified examples.
- Pitch a value that reflects desiribilty in mind of fitted body kit, alloy wheels, engine changes and cosmetic changes to interior, exterior fittings and paint.
- We would not simply calculate quantum by taking the retail adjusted figure and add the total expenditure of Modifications in line with receipts.
I hope this information helps in some way.

Thanks Dom.
Personally, i'm a great believer in good customer service and I think that comes from the ethos of Chris Knott Insurance borne out of working there for 20+ years! This is not really a praise just an honest truth. We have a good friendly staff and I trust you will see this. (I see so much bad customer service in domestic life).
And I'm always at the end of a pm if you have any personal insurance queries!

So your saying that you base your claims on the market value of a heavily modified vehicle? Via the autotrader & glases
