For 'new' Vauxhall Astra, read Pontiac Vibe:

I would like it but the back end looks too much like a Toyota Yaris.

Well it does to me..

I think there is a lot of the astra mk3 3door in it, however a lot sharper. sure to be a massive success.

Thumbs up Re: What do you think of the Astra Mk5?

A lot of negative feedback on looks but have you driven one? Had mine since 1st September. Compared to the Mk4 which I gave back after 2 years of fun driving, I must say that it is one well made car. the back end isn't as bad as you initially think, handles excellently, quality inside is top notch. For a heavier, taller and wider car the performance is still better than that of the MK4 (in my opinion!). Before I got my 2.0ltr Sri Turbo I had driven the 1.7CDTi (engine was flat as a fart) and the 1.8 Sri (very responsive especially with the Sport mode )

For all those who are doubting the new astra, take one for a test drive. And no, I don't work for Vauxhall!!

Re: What do you think of the Astra Mk5?

i have driven one. the back end has grown on me. but the ride is outstanding. Definately a class leader i would say. 3 door looks the business and the vxr looks like its going to be awesome. I was going to swap my mk4 for one but for the same spec car it was gonna cost me my car plus 10k and its not a 10k advancement on the mk4. think i'll save up for a mk4 gsi

Re: What do you think of the Astra Mk5?

[b] hi... first time here so hope this all goes through ok... yeah the new Astra leaves a bit 2 be desired... But havent Astra's been gettin dull since the end of the Mk2? The Mk3 scrapped the grade, the Mk.4 only passed because of the coupe... lets hope an all singing all dancing GSi version saves this dull clone. Only good point i can se are the wheels Im first 2 admit Vaux have never made truly inspiring wheels so these are a great change... but even then, they are 5 stud. a 5 stud Astra? What were they thinking??

Re: What do you think of the Astra Mk5?

i think it looks very smart. But i drive a signum which i think looks like the new astra's big brother. I think the new astra will actually make the signum look less weird and more trendy. The vxr looks awsome and i would seriously consider one in a couple of years.

Re: What do you think of the Astra Mk5?

I dislike this anonymous car so much I'm about to lash out and buy a new Astra convertible 1.8 with as many bells and whistles as I can afford. I reckon these are on the way to being a classic.
Have you seen the video of the new hardtop cc? I wonder how much boot space is left? Here's a link
