tesco 99 ron when i can find it
Supermarket fuel is the dregs left behind after the likes of Shell and BP have taken thier fill for thier tankers, Tesco,Sainsburys and Morrisons are examples of this, also the fuel is cheaper because they do not apply all of the additives as it costs more, so what you get is an inferior quality fuel which lacks the correct % of detergents, lead replacement chemicals and lubricant qualities that the major fuel companies apply. Use it regularly at your engines peril!![]()
it used to be noticable in the v6 but it drank so much i didnt bother. in the ecotec tho it makes **** all difference its **** either way

I would trust supermarket fuel again since that fiasco with the ethanol or whatever it was the put in it...
it broke my alfa 156, my boss' audi a6 and a mates rs6 (cost him best part 4k to have 4 lambda sensors and some other bits!)
it's shell only for me! get £30 worth of free fuel a year too with the drivers club card!
Have you noticed that despite the cost of living today, its still remains so popular!

total excellium for me, even if only 2% of you agree. would use V-power if there was a shell nearby. just gotta make sure you turn the RON chip round to re-map the ecu for 98 octanehaving said that, come the end of the month when i'm a bit poor i usually switch back to 95
supermarket regular petrol is ok (even if there is twigs in it) i wouldnt go anywhere near supermarket diesel though, no lubricant or other aditives in it. the high cetane diesel from shell and BP is pretty good, especially on a long run.

i use ethanol in the rally car whit additional lubricant, and our standard 95 octane in my summer road car.
The winter hill billy car gets whatsever cheep at the moment, runs a litle sacky some times but it takes me were i want to go. lmao
V-power always seems to make my cars run best, however as pointed out your likely to use it if your closer to the garage
sorry for addign to the old thread dig up but before noticing this was old i was reading through and someone said about higher octane stoppign knock now - on my mk3 astra i put in a full tank of bp ultimate just for the crack used it up enjoyed went to put in more......... the petrol garage didnt have any.... so i put in normal 95 stuff and quite soon after i got the eml come up......... knock sensor i thought hmmmmm the car seemed to be runnign crap anyways so i changed the knock sensor half way throught the 95 tank and still got the knock sensor come up thought it odd finished off the tank and put in the bp ultimate again and its been fine since............ anyone know what the crack is?
the saab knocks and pinks like **** on 95 too altho its supposed to run on it fine it runs waay less boost too so now i have to go some extra distance fro shells newer 99ron v-power

Higher octane fuel only stops pinking, or so I've been told, it wont increase performance, its says in the handbook for my MK3 the Ecu will adjust ignition timing based on the fuel it is using?
Presumably pre- ignition, pinking?
Shell V Power or Excellium when i'm going to the local strip,
or anything otherwise, petrol is petrol really lmao
i'll only really use tesco momentum99 in my gsi, noticed it runs miles better than on standard unleaded
as for that shell fuelsave crap, i tried it when it first came out and i'l never use such utter **** again!
Im sure tesco unleaded is the best fuel under 100RON, all the night rally boys love it.
I use 99 Tesco, last time I put Shell V-Power it ran like crap, might have got the dregs from bottom of garage tank though, will try V-Power again when the Shell station has finished it's refurb.
On the road to improvements. My the Lord of motive power keep us all SANE
