| tbh as the fuel all comes out of the same tanks at the same depot there isnt going to be a lot of difference,
for instance, all of the south west area is served by avonmouth fuel depot. shell, bp, morrisons, tesco, texaco. and unless your cars mapped for it they lose power. as proven at many a rr day ive been to, where people are gutted that they've spent ££££'s on engine mods, only to have it all reversed when putting the incorrect fuel in it.
just my 2pence worth |

| /\ i had been using BP ultimate on my standard XE for a couple month. Once the tank was empty I thought sod it ill try standard 95 ron petrol and save a couple £ at the same time.
Car runs exactly the same if not better on the standard 95 RON. |

| I use V-Power in my current car, it hates BP Ultimate never seems to run right on that and it runs like a bag of crap on 95.
When I had my old E16SE rr'd and it made 93bhp on 95RON & 101bhp on 98 (optimax at the time) I definately felt the difference with that engine. That was at a RR day for the PNG at Novatech in Slough a few years ago.
4 Star was 98 RON, so for older engines that were meant to run on that I'd say super was best.
95 RON Fuel is shared between companies, their supers are specific to each oil company due to each companies additive mix.
Some modern engines have knock sensors which adjust their engine tuning to take advantage the higher octane fuel.

toluene if you inhale it causes you to halucinate. It was common on shifts for some people to hear defining music that wasnt there. Toluene makes mechanical noise apear musical. it will usually play the last song you listened to, or one that has the same beat as the machinery, in your head. Often people saw disco lights, the equipment would rise and fall and walls would appear to flow like a slow waterfall. a few people ended up losing their jobs due to addiction.
next time you use it inhale the vapour for a minute or so, and you'll know what i mean. |
It can also cause long term health poblems, can effect women of child bearing age (infertility I believe), causes major headaches and dizziness and as I will keep telling people is to be avoided at all costs.
The staticity is also EXTREMELY low so handling it should only be done by professionals with the correct PPE.
Chip if you are seriously suggesting that you use it yourself as a fuel addative (or in any `non-professional` manner) then you need to stop immediately. I appreciate it sounds like I`m lecturing but it`s a highly dangerous, and quite frankly daft, thing to do. |

I'm not saying its not a hazardous substance but if you inhale petrol the results can be as catastrophic. ie Brain damage and death. |

Yeah, but most people know/accept the dangers of alcohol yet few know the dangers of toluene.
What I`m saying is do NOT **** with toluene. |

| Totally agree, in the same way you shouldn't **** with petrol. It should be treated in a similar way as petrol. Rightly or wrongly people don't know the dangers of petrol any more than they do toluene, but it is still in daily use.
If people want to snff petrol for a laugh then they'll get very similar effects as sniffing toluene. They are both aromatic hydrocarbons and both will give dizziness, disassociation, hallucinations etc. Again I'm not saying it's not a hazardous substance - it is! Link Link
In the situations described, I would much rather be adding it in small contained doses to my engine (like you would petrol), than EVER work in the unvented situations rx jamie described. |

| I like the 2nd link mate.
I (used to) work with toluene as they manafacture it at work but after an event about 3 or 4 years ago I won`t work on that part of the plant again.
With great repect to everyone if they knew had easy it was to ignite this stuff (and believe me it`s mega easy to get this stuff going even without a heat source or naked flame) they wouldn`t dream of storing it at home. |

| V power all the way for me, the Calibra loves it, but the 205 CTi runs so much better on this than any other petrol.

| tesco 99 ron for me, thorneys fuel test proved its top stuff, and everytime i find a tescos with 99ron its fill up time, but with all fuels you really need 2 tanks full to notice any difference http://www.thorneymotorsport.co.uk/t..._Results.shtml

| Although I often use V-Power, I find my car swallows it quicker than a thirsty man in the desert. I find the normal Shell / BP (95 RON) fuel better on MPG... |

| I have been running my new civic on regular unleaded, but the other day i decided to treat it to a nice tank full of super... WOW.. the power has definatly increased a little bit, but the fuel economy has really improved. On a normal motorway cruise i average about say 35 mpg. I did a 200 mile round trip on motorways on super the other day and clocked 42 mpg!!!! nice! |

| I live in Northern Ireland and in the two shell garaged closer to me they still sell ordinary shell super unleaded, its not called v-power or anything. Cars run well on it. Think its 97. Have you got any opinions on this stuff? Its over £1 a litre though |
